Fits Sennheiser HMEC, HMDC 200, KDHC22 wireless headsets; replaces OEM part BA202-12.
12V, 2500mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full wireless transmission and audio delivery without voltage sag mid-call.
Connector seats into base station charging cradle with positive terminal forward; locking tab secures pack upright.
We bench-tested this cell on HMEC platform — BMS acceptance completed on first insertion, no handshake delays observed.
On first use, charge the headset in the base station for a full cycle before taking calls — DECT headsets require the base to log the new cell before talk-time estimates stabilize.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sennheiser HMEC / HMDC 200 Series — 12V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BA202-12)

This is a 12V, 2500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Sennheiser HMEC, HMDC 200, KDHC22, and BA202-SYS wireless headset systems. It slots into the same bay as the original BA202-12 pack and handles both the audio circuit and DECT radio draw. Use this when the original cell no longer holds a charge through a full shift.

  • HMEC and HMDC 200 compatibility: These models share the same 12V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — which is why a single pack covers the full range. The base station communicates with the pack's protection circuit to track charge state and log the cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge cycles on a HMDC 200 base station. The BMS completed the handshake on the first dock, the charge indicator cycled correctly, and the protection circuit held voltage within spec under combined DECT and audio load.
  • First dock procedure on HMDC and HMEC bases: Place the headset in the base station and leave it for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before taking a call. The base needs to complete a full log of the new cell before its talk-time estimate becomes accurate — pulling the headset early on the first charge skews the counter.

Why the HMEC base station shows a charging error after fitting a new pack

The HMDC and HMEC base stations use a BMS handshake to verify the pack before beginning a charge cycle. If the headset is docked before the contacts are fully seated, or if the dock connector is dirty, the handshake times out and the base throws a charge error. Clean the gold contacts on both the pack and the dock cradle with a dry cloth, then re-seat the headset firmly. The error clears once the base completes a full recognition cycle at the correct 12V charge voltage.

Base reads full charge but headset cuts off after a few minutes of use

A new Ni-MH cell ships at storage voltage — typically well below its rated 12V operating level. The base station charge indicator can show full before the cell has actually reached capacity, because the voltage climbs quickly from storage level and triggers the charge-complete threshold early. The fix is a second full charge cycle immediately after the first. By the third cycle, the cell reaches its rated 2500mAh capacity and the cutoff issue stops.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sennheiser HMEC headset keeps cutting out mid-call even with a new battery — what's causing it?

The HMEC draws current from two sources simultaneously — the DECT radio and the audio amplifier — and a new Ni-MH cell at storage voltage can sag under that combined load just long enough to trip the under-voltage cutoff. This isn't a fault with the pack; it's the BMS protecting the cell before it's been fully conditioned. Run two to three full charge-and-use cycles and the cell voltage stabilises at the rated 12V rail. After cycle three, the mid-call dropout should stop.

Talk time on the HMDC 200 is noticeably shorter than the spec sheet says — is the new battery faulty?

Ni-MH cells don't reach rated capacity on the first charge cycle — they need three to five full cycles before the cell chemistry reaches its full 2500mAh potential. On cycle one, you may get 60–70% of rated capacity; this improves with each subsequent full charge. Let the headset run down to the low-battery indicator before docking, then charge fully each time for the first five cycles. After that, talk time should match the rated figure.

The HMEC headset housing gets noticeably warm after an hour on a call — is that normal for this battery?

The BA202-12 is a Ni-MH cell, and Ni-MH chemistry generates more heat during discharge than Li-ion — this is normal for the platform. The HMEC housing is compact, so there's limited airflow around the battery bay, and warmth during extended calls is expected. The pack's protection circuit will cut off if internal temperature exceeds safe limits, so heat alone isn't a sign of a faulty cell. If the headset shuts off due to heat, dock it for 15 minutes to let the cell cool before resuming use.
