Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SteelSeries H Wireless Gaming-Headset — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (160240)
This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion cell replacing part number 160240 in the SteelSeries H Wireless Gaming-Headset. It also fits the Siberia 800, Siberia 840, and 61298RX. When the original cell degrades and the headset can no longer hold charge through a session, this is the direct swap.
- H Wireless, Siberia 800, and Siberia 840 compatibility: These models share the same compact cell housing, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — all three run the same 3.7V rail and accept the 160240 form factor without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the SteelSeries base station charge cycle and confirmed the BMS completed the handshake, accepted a full charge, and reported accurate capacity to the headset firmware.
- First charge in the base station: Seat the headset in the base station and let it complete one full charge cycle before use. DECT-based headsets log the new cell during this cycle — skipping it causes the talk-time indicator to misread the actual cell state.
Why the H Wireless cuts out under combined audio and DECT radio draw
The H Wireless runs both the audio codec and the DECT radio from the same cell simultaneously. Under peak load — loud audio transients plus active transmission — instantaneous current draw spikes sharply. If the cell's internal resistance has climbed through age or degradation, voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold and the headset drops. A fresh cell with lower internal resistance handles those spikes without triggering the protection circuit.
Base station shows full charge but headset shuts off after a few minutes
A new cell ships at storage voltage — typically around 3.6–3.8V — not full charge. The base station indicator can show a charge-complete state before the BMS has logged the cell's true capacity baseline. This is resolved by running one complete charge-to-drain cycle through the base station. After that first conditioning cycle, the headset's charge indicator and the actual cell state will track correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SteelSeries H Wireless base station flashes an error and won't charge the new battery — what's wrong?
The base station requires the BMS in the headset to complete a handshake before it begins charging. If the cell arrived at a low storage voltage, the BMS may not respond fast enough for the base to recognise it on the first seat. Remove the headset, leave it seated in the base for 10 minutes without moving it, then check again — the handshake usually completes and charging starts within that window. If the error persists, check that the contacts on both the headset and base are clean and making full contact.
Talk time on the replacement battery is noticeably shorter than the original was when new — is the cell faulty?
Li-ion cells need several charge-discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity. On the first two or three cycles the H Wireless will deliver less talk time than expected — this is normal cell behaviour, not a fault. Capacity builds over three to five full cycles as the electrolyte fully wets the electrode surfaces. Run the headset down to the low-battery warning and charge it fully through the base station each time; by cycle five the cell should be at or near its 900mAh rated output.
The headset gets noticeably warm during long sessions — is that a battery problem?
The H Wireless housing is compact, and the cell sits close to both the audio driver and the DECT radio module. Sustained combined draw over a long session generates heat in a tight space — some warmth is expected. If the headset becomes hot to the touch rather than just warm, the cell may be drawing more current than normal, which can happen if the BMS is not regulating correctly after a low-voltage start. Seat the headset in the base for a full charge cycle from a known low state; if it still runs hot after that cycle, check that the cell is seated flush and the contacts are not arcing.
