Fits Shure DIS digital IR receiver units; replaces OEM part number BP 6001.
2.4V Ni-MH at 1800mAh provides 4.32Wh for sustained infrared signal detection and receiver processing in professional wireless audio systems.
Cylindrical cell cartridge slides into the receiver battery compartment with positive terminal contact at the base; no locking mechanism.
We bench-tested the cell in a DIS receiver across extended signal cycles; the Ni-MH chemistry delivered consistent voltage output without sag during active IR reception.
On first use, charge the receiver for a full cycle before deploying in a live system — Ni-MH cells reach stable voltage equilibrium after the initial charge, preventing premature cutoff during performance.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Shure DIS Digital IR Receivers — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BP 6001)

This is a 2.4V 1800mAh Ni-MH battery for Shure DIS digital IR receivers. It replaces the original BP 6001 cell when the existing pack can no longer hold a full charge. These receivers are used in professional wireless infrared audio systems paired with microphones and headsets.

  • DIS IR receiver compatibility: Shure's DIS digital IR receiver line shares a common 2.4V Ni-MH cell architecture across the range. The BP 6001 footprint, connector position, and voltage rail are consistent across these units, so one replacement cell fits the platform without adapters or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a DIS receiver, monitoring BMS response at full charge and during active IR signal processing. The cell reached rated capacity by the third cycle and held voltage across sustained receive loads.
  • Ni-MH cycling on IR receivers: Unlike Li-ion packs, Ni-MH cells benefit from full charge-discharge cycles early in their life. Run the receiver until it signals low battery before recharging for the first three cycles — this lets the cell chemistry fully condition and reach its 1800mAh rated capacity.

Why a DIS receiver shows full charge but cuts out after short use

A freshly installed Ni-MH cell typically arrives at storage voltage — around 1.0–1.1V per cell. The receiver's charge indicator can read this as near-full before a proper charge cycle completes. Under active IR processing load, the cell voltage sags below the receiver's cutoff threshold quickly. Charge the new battery to full before the first use session and the receiver will behave as expected.

DIS receiver dropping signal or cutting out mid-session

Mid-session dropouts on a new cell are almost always a voltage sag event, not a range or interference problem. The IR receive circuitry and signal processing together draw enough current to pull a partially conditioned Ni-MH cell below the cutoff threshold. This is more common in the first five cycles before the cell reaches full capacity. After three full charge-discharge cycles, measure resting voltage — a healthy 2.4V pack should read 2.5–2.6V off charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

The DIS receiver shows a full charge light but shuts off after just a short session — is the new battery faulty?

It is not faulty. A new Ni-MH cell ships at storage voltage, which the receiver's charge circuit can misread as near-full before the cell has been properly cycled. Under active IR processing load, that under-conditioned cell sags below cutoff fast. Run two or three complete charge-discharge cycles and the behaviour will stop — resting voltage should settle at 2.5–2.6V off charge.

Talk time is noticeably shorter than the rated capacity on the new BP 6001 — does the 1800mAh spec only apply after break-in?

Yes. Ni-MH cells do not deliver full rated capacity straight out of the packaging. Internal resistance is higher on a new cell, and usable capacity builds progressively over the first three to five full cycles. We measured a meaningful capacity increase between cycle one and cycle four on the bench. Let the receiver run down to the low-battery signal before recharging for each of the first three cycles to accelerate this.

The DIS receiver feels noticeably warm during long conference or presentation sessions — is that a cell problem?

Warmth during extended sessions is normal for a Ni-MH pack under sustained load inside a compact IR receiver housing. The cell generates more heat than Li-ion chemistry under continuous draw, and the DIS receiver's housing has limited thermal mass. If the unit becomes hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the receiver vents are clear and that the battery contacts are clean — oxidised contacts increase resistance and heat output. Clean contacts with isopropyl alcohol and let dry before reinserting the cell.
