Fits Shark V1950, V1917, VX3 cordless stick vacuums; replaces OEM battery XB1918 and XB1918FRS.
7.2V, 3000mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers full motor voltage to sustained suction on carpet and upholstery.
Battery slides into handle slot with connector tab aligned; locking tab clicks firmly into position.
We bench-tested this cell on a V1950 frame — BMS accepted full charge cycle without cutoff events.
Do not leave the vacuum on its charging dock continuously; trickle-charge cycles degrade Ni-MH capacity significantly faster than charge-and-remove cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Shark V1950 Series — 7.2V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (XB1918)

This is a 7.2V, 3000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Shark V1950 cordless stick vacuum. It also fits the V1917, VX3, and XB1918 platforms that share the same cell pack format and connector. OEM part numbers XB1918 and XB1918FRS both cross-reference to this unit.

  • V1950 and VX3 platform fit: These models share the same 7.2V Ni-MH cell arrangement, connector footprint, and charge termination behaviour. A single cell pack services the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a V1950 motor assembly. The BMS held termination voltage correctly, and the motor drew within the rated current band across carpet and hard floor resistance loads.
  • Dock charging on the V1950: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock indefinitely after the charge cycle completes. The V1950 dock does not cut trickle charge automatically — continuous low-level charge degrades Ni-MH cells faster than normal cycling. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

Ni-MH cells under load show a voltage curve that sags earlier than the indicator threshold when the motor draws above its nominal current. On the V1950, a partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling more amps and triggering voltage sag well before the pack is genuinely depleted. The vacuum reads as low-battery when the actual issue is restricted airflow amplifying the load. Clean or replace the foam and HEPA filters first — if suction recovers and holds, the battery pack was not the fault.

Motor cuts out mid-clean then recovers after a short pause

This is an overcurrent trip in the BMS, not a dead cell. When suction is sustained against a blockage or heavily soiled filter, current draw spikes past the BMS threshold and it shuts the output to protect the cells. After a 30–60 second rest the BMS resets and the motor runs again. The fix is not a new battery — check the filter and clear any blockage in the nozzle or hose. If the cut-out stops after cleaning, the pack is healthy and the BMS was doing its job correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Shark V1950 lose suction halfway through a clean even with a full battery charge?

A partially blocked filter makes the motor draw more current than rated, which causes voltage sag on the Ni-MH pack before the cells are actually depleted. The vacuum behaves like a weak battery when the real cause is restricted airflow overloading the motor. Remove and clean the foam pre-filter and HEPA filter, then run the vacuum again. If suction holds consistently, the battery pack is not the issue.

My V1950 keeps cutting out and restarting on its own — is the new battery faulty?

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a cell fault. When the motor sustains a high-resistance load — usually a blocked nozzle or clogged filter — current spikes past the BMS cutoff and the pack shuts down briefly to protect the cells. Clear any blockage in the nozzle, hose, and filter path, then test again. If the cut-outs stop, the pack is working correctly; if they continue on a clean, unobstructed machine, check that terminal voltage at the connector reads at least 7.2V under no load.

The battery capacity on my V1950 seems to fade after only a few months — what causes that?

Continuous dock charging is the main cause of early capacity fade in Ni-MH packs. The V1950 dock does not cut trickle charge once the battery is full, so leaving it docked between every use applies a constant low-level charge that degrades the cells over time. Charge the battery only when the vacuum needs it, then remove it from the dock once charging is complete. Switching to this charge pattern is the single most effective way to extend cell life on this platform.
