Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SmartFren Smartfren — 3.8V Li-ion 2200mAh Replacement Battery
This is a 3.8V Li-ion cell rated at 2200mAh (8.36Wh), built to replace the original battery in the SmartFren Smartfren smartphone. It restores capacity lost to cell aging, swelling, or degraded cycle life. Dimensions are 81.95 × 57.70 × 4.30mm — confirm these against your existing cell before ordering.
- SmartFren Smartfren platform fit: The Smartfren line uses a 3.8V nominal Li-ion cell with a specific footprint tied to the chassis dimensions. This replacement matches that footprint and voltage rail so the charge IC and BMS communicate correctly without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a smartphone test rig. The BMS held cutoff at the expected low-voltage threshold and accepted charge current without flagging a fault on the host charge IC.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
A new Li-ion cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve than the depleted original it replaces. The phone's fuel gauge IC still uses the old curve, so it reads 25% remaining while the actual cell voltage has already dropped below the modem's minimum operating threshold. The modem or display pulls a brief high-current spike — the cell can't sustain voltage — and the phone cuts out. One full discharge-charge cycle forces the coulomb counter to re-anchor to the new cell's actual curve. After that cycle, shutdowns at partial percentage should stop.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges
A fresh Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in one. The charge IC pushes current into that resistance, and the extra impedance converts more energy to heat than usual during the first few cycles. This is normal and typically resolves within three to five charge cycles as the cell's internal resistance drops. If the device stays hot beyond cycle five or the charge IC throttles current noticeably, check that the replacement cell's dimensions match the original — an ill-fitting cell with poor thermal contact to the chassis retains heat longer.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SmartFren Smartfren won't turn on after sitting in a drawer for a few months — is the new battery dead?
It's most likely a BMS lockout. Li-ion cells that self-discharge below roughly 2.5V per cell trigger a protection circuit that blocks all current flow as a safety measure. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS circuits re-initialise once the charger trickle-feeds enough current to bring the cell back above the lockout threshold, usually around 3.0V.
The battery percentage on my SmartFren Smartfren jumps around erratically after I fitted the replacement — what's causing it?
The fuel gauge IC inside the phone was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When you install a new cell with a different impedance profile, the IC's coulomb counter loses its reference points and reports unstable readings. Run one uninterrupted discharge from 100% down to automatic shutdown, then charge back to 100% without interruption. This gives the fuel gauge IC one complete reference cycle to re-anchor its capacity model to the new cell.
Fast charging stopped working after I swapped the battery on my SmartFren Smartfren — charger just does slow charge now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, some charge ICs default to a conservative constant-current profile until the BMS confirms the new cell is within spec. The phone's charging protocol — whether USB-PD or a proprietary handshake — may not re-negotiate at full current until the BMS has completed one standard charge cycle and logged the cell as stable. Charge to 100% once at the slow rate, let the phone sit on the charger for a further 10 minutes after it reads full, then reconnect your fast charger. If fast charge still doesn't activate, check that the USB port and cable are not the limiting factor by testing with a known fast-charge-capable cable.
