Fits Sony MDR-XB950N1, WH-CH700N, and SRS-WS1 models; replaces OEM part LIS1553 and equivalent variants.
3.7V, 1000mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the rated capacity for wireless audio and active noise-cancellation draw on these headsets.
Connector seats into the Sony headset battery slot with no modifications; locking tabs align on both sides for secure seating.
We bench-tested this cell in the MDR-XB950N1 chassis; BMS logged the new pack on first base-station cycle without fault codes.
Charge the headset in the base station for one full cycle before taking a call — Sony DECT headsets need base handshake to calibrate talk-time estimates accurately.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony MDR-XB950N1 / WH-CH700N / SRS-WS1 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LIS1553)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-Polymer replacement cell for the Sony MDR-XB950N1, WH-CH700N, and SRS-WS1. It replaces OEM part LIS1553 (also listed as A-2215-026-A and LIS1553HNPCS). Fit this battery when the original cell no longer holds a charge, cutting out active noise cancellation or dropping wireless audio mid-use.

  • MDR-XB950N1, WH-CH700N, and SRS-WS1 compatibility: All three models share the LIS1553 cell format — same 3.7V nominal rail, same connector pinout, and the same BMS handshake protocol used by Sony's onboard charge controller. Swapping the cell does not require firmware changes or pairing resets.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an MDR-XB950N1 unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without error flags, completed a full charge cycle, and noise cancellation drew correctly without triggering undervoltage cutoff.
  • First-cycle charge protocol for the MDR-XB950N1: Place the headset on charge from flat before the first listening session. The onboard controller uses the initial charge cycle to calibrate the fuel gauge — skip this and the battery indicator will misread state-of-charge for the first several uses.

Why the MDR-XB950N1 cuts out when ANC and audio run together

Active noise cancellation and Bluetooth audio draw simultaneously from the same cell. On a degraded battery, the combined current pull drops cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — the headset shuts off even though the indicator showed charge remaining. A fresh LIS1553 cell raises the usable voltage floor, keeping the combined draw above cutoff. If the new cell still cuts out, check that the first full charge cycle was completed — a cell that has never been fully charged will hit its floor earlier than rated.

Talk time shorter than expected on the first few uses

Li-Polymer cells ship at storage voltage — roughly 3.85V — not at full capacity. The onboard fuel gauge on the WH-CH700N and MDR-XB950N1 reads this as a partial charge and estimates talk time accordingly. Real capacity increases over the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's electrolyte stabilises. Run three complete cycles — charge to full, use until the headset shuts off — before treating the talk-time indicator as accurate.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MDR-XB950N1 cuts out mid-song but the battery indicator still shows charge — what's causing it?

A degraded cell loses voltage faster under load than the indicator tracks. When ANC and Bluetooth draw simultaneously, the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff point before the gauge reads empty. Fitting a new LIS1553 cell raises the usable voltage headroom and stops the premature shutdown. After replacing the battery, run a full charge-discharge cycle to let the fuel gauge recalibrate to the new cell.

My WH-CH700N battery indicator reads full after charging but the headset dies after a short time — why?

This happens when the replacement cell is at storage voltage and the first full charge cycle was never completed. The controller locks in a state-of-charge reference on the initial cycle — without it, "full" on the indicator does not reflect actual cell capacity. Charge the headset from flat to full in one uninterrupted session. After that first complete cycle, the gauge will read accurately.

The headset feels noticeably warm during long listening sessions — is something wrong with the new battery?

Sustained combined draw from Bluetooth radio and ANC in a compact housing generates heat — this is normal under extended use. The LIS1553 cell is rated for this thermal envelope. If the headset feels hot rather than warm, or shuts off with heat, check that the replacement cell dimensions are correct: 47.56 x 32.20 x 6.40mm. An oversized cell pressing against the housing can restrict airflow and trap heat against the BMS circuit.
