Fits Sony PS5 DualSense controller, part number LIP1708 direct replacement for CFI-ZCT1W battery cells.
3.7V, 1600mAh lithium-polymer cell matches OEM capacity and restores full wireless session length without premature shutdowns.
Connector seats flush into the controller housing with the locking tab aligned toward the motherboard contact edge.
We bench-tested the LIP1708 against a CFI-1015A controller; the BMS accepted a full charge cycle with no fault codes or cutoff delays.
On first use after installation, run one complete wireless play session to automatic shutoff before recharging — the fuel gauge recalibrates against this first full discharge to set its empty reference point.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony PS5 DualSense — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LIP1708)

This 3.7V, 1600mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the internal rechargeable battery in the Sony PS5 DualSense wireless controller. It fits the CFI-1015A and CFI-ZCT1W variants. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or forces you to stay tethered to the console.

  • CFI-1015A and CFI-ZCT1W compatibility: Both controller revisions use the same LIP1708 cell, same connector orientation, and the same charge management circuit. The BMS handshake does not change between those hardware versions, so one cell covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the DualSense charge IC and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, balanced charge current correctly, and reported state-of-charge to the PS5 without fault flags.
  • First-cycle calibration tip: After installing, run one complete wireless play session to automatic cutoff before recharging. The DualSense fuel gauge IC sets its empty reference point against the first full discharge cycle — skipping this step leaves the capacity estimate inaccurate from day one.

Why the DualSense fuel gauge jumps or reads wrong after a cell swap

The PS5 controller uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its discharge model from previous charge cycles. When you fit a new cell, the IC still holds the old cell's learned curve. The gauge reads inaccurate percentages until it maps the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity curve. This resolves after three to five full discharge-and-charge cycles, after which the reported percentage tracks the real state of charge.

DualSense drops wireless connection before the battery indicator reaches empty

The DualSense draws from the battery through two loads simultaneously — the wireless radio and the haptic actuators. Under heavy rumble and wireless traffic together, a degraded or new cell can sag below the controller's minimum operating voltage before the fuel gauge registers low. The controller cuts the wireless link to protect the BMS, not because the radio failed. If this happens on a new cell, run the first-cycle calibration discharge to let the fuel gauge recalibrate its cutoff threshold to the actual cell voltage floor.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PS5 controller is showing a full charge but shutting off mid-game after I put in the new battery — what's happening?

The fuel gauge IC carried over the old cell's discharge curve and is reporting state-of-charge inaccurately. The controller hits the real voltage floor before the gauge shows low, so it cuts out without warning. Run one complete session to automatic shutoff without interrupting it, then charge fully. After three to five full cycles the gauge recalibrates to the new cell and the shutoffs stop.

The DualSense charge indicator light is pulsing slowly and the battery isn't reaching full charge as quickly as it used to — is the charge IC limiting current?

Yes — the PS5 charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or unrecognised cell to protect against overvoltage during initial cycles. This is not a fault. Charge the controller normally twice through and the IC steps up to its standard rate once it confirms the cell holds voltage correctly across a full cycle.

After replacing the battery my left stick is drifting slightly — could the battery swap have caused that?

Stick drift after a battery swap usually points to a ground path interruption, not the cell itself. The DualSense motherboard grounds through specific contact points near the battery connector, and if the connector isn't fully seated or a ribbon cable is slightly displaced during reassembly, the analogue stick ADC reads a floating reference. Open the controller, reseat the battery connector firmly, and check that the touchpad and trigger ribbon cables are fully clicked into their ZIF sockets.
