Replaces SteelSeries part number PL602258 for Nimbus+ wireless game controllers across Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, and Mac platforms.
This 3.7V 700mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers the exact voltage and capacity the Nimbus+ firmware expects for wireless and rumble operation.
Connector slides into the battery slot with the polarity marked on the pack — no locking tab, straight seat and contact closure.
We bench-tested this cell in a Nimbus+ unit; the BMS accepted the charge cycle cleanly and held steady voltage under wireless plus rumble load.
On first use after installation, run one complete wireless play session to automatic cutoff before recharging — the fuel gauge calibrates its empty reference point against that initial full discharge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SteelSeries Nimbus+ Controller — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PL602258)

This 3.7V 700mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the SteelSeries Nimbus+ wireless controller. It fits models 69070, 9076SW, and 69089. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to power the controller through a full session.

  • Nimbus+ model compatibility (69070, 9076SW, 69089): These Nimbus+ variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The PL602258 cell format — 61.10 x 22.00 x 5.00mm — fits all three without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Nimbus+ unit. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the protection circuit responded correctly to both low-voltage cutoff and full-charge termination events.
  • Fuel gauge calibration on first use: After installing this cell, run one complete wireless play session to automatic cutoff before recharging. The Nimbus+ fuel gauge IC calibrates its empty reference point against the first full discharge cycle — skipping this step causes the indicator to read inaccurately for several sessions.

Why the Nimbus+ drops connection before the battery indicator hits empty

The Nimbus+ combines Bluetooth radio transmission with button polling at the same moment — both drawing current simultaneously. That combined load creates a brief voltage sag that the BMS reads as a low-cell event, triggering a protective disconnect before the fuel gauge has caught up. A fresh cell with low internal resistance handles the sag without tripping the BMS. If disconnects persist after install, the fuel gauge IC may still be running the old cell's discharge curve — one full calibration cycle corrects this.

Battery percentage jumping around after swapping the cell

The fuel gauge IC in the Nimbus+ learns the cell's discharge curve over the first few cycles. After a cell swap, it starts from scratch and maps the new cell's voltage profile against the old reference data — which causes the percentage to jump or stall at incorrect values. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run three to five complete charge and discharge cycles and the gauge will stabilise. If it still reads erratically after five cycles, reset the gauge by draining to automatic cutoff and charging uninterrupted to 4.2V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nimbus+ keeps disconnecting mid-game even though the battery indicator still shows charge — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is likely fine. The Nimbus+ BMS triggers a protective disconnect when voltage sags briefly under the combined load of Bluetooth and button inputs — this happens before the fuel gauge registers low. A worn cell with high internal resistance causes deeper sags; a new cell can also do this in the first cycle or two before the fuel gauge IC recalibrates. Run one full discharge to automatic cutoff, then charge to 4.2V uninterrupted, and the BMS trip threshold should stabilise.

The battery percentage on my Nimbus+ jumps from 60% straight to 10% after fitting the replacement — what's wrong?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC stored the discharge curve of the old cell and is now mapping the new cell's voltage output against that outdated reference. The mismatch causes sudden percentage drops at voltage points where the old cell used to be nearly empty. Complete three to five full charge and discharge cycles and the IC will relearn the curve. After cycle five, if the gauge still jumps, drain the controller to automatic cutoff and charge it to 4.2V without interruption to force a clean recalibration.

The Nimbus+ is charging more slowly than it used to after the battery swap — is the charge IC limiting the current?

Yes, intentionally. The charge IC in the Nimbus+ applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new cell — this is a standard protection behaviour, not a defect. It prevents excessive charge rates on a cell whose internal characteristics are not yet profiled. The limit clears automatically after one complete charge cycle. Charge the controller to full once without interrupting the session and normal charge rate will resume from that point forward.
