Fits Sony VAIO S15 2019 notebook; replaces OEM battery part number VJ8BPS57.
11.4V 3500mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 39.9Wh to restore full portable runtime on this ultrabook.
Connector type and orientation match original pack; locking tab seats into the battery bay slot.
We bench-tested this cell on the VAIO S15 platform; BMS accepted the pack on first insert and charged to full without cutoff or fault codes.
After installation, discharge the laptop to hibernate shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this runs the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false "poor health" warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sony VAIO S15 2019 — 11.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (VJ8BPS57)

This is an 11.4V 3500mAh (39.9Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Sony VAIO S15 2019 laptop. It fits directly in place of the original VJ8BPS57 cell. If your VAIO S15 no longer holds charge or fails to power on without AC, this battery restores portable operation.

  • VAIO S15 2019 fitment: The VJ8BPS57 uses a specific three-cell 11.4V configuration with a proprietary connector and BMS handshake tied to the VAIO S15 2019 mainboard. Swapping in a cell with a different voltage rail or incompatible BMS communication will trigger a charge fault. This cell matches the original electrical profile the board expects.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge and discharge cycle on the VAIO S15 2019. The BMS initialised without fault codes, charge current stepped down correctly at the 80% threshold, and the cell reached full capacity without thermal event.
  • First-cycle calibration on the VAIO S15: After installation, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement

The VAIO S15 BIOS reads health data stored in the cell's EEPROM. When a new cell is installed, the BIOS compares its EEPROM data against the charge history of the old cell and flags a mismatch as degraded health. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration state. Running a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% allows the BIOS to rewrite the learn cycle data against the new cell. After one or two complete cycles, the health indicator normalises.

VAIO S15 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This symptom points to a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load rather than a fuel gauge error. When the cell cannot sustain the voltage rail under full draw, the system shuts down before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles, and on the third cycle the fuel gauge IC will track the real voltage curve — the shutdown point should align with 5% or lower.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VAIO S15 shows the replacement battery as 0% or "unknown" in Windows — is the cell dead?

The fuel gauge IC in the VAIO S15 reads calibration data written during discharge cycles on the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC has no reference curve and reports 0% or unknown until it builds one. Run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After two complete cycles, the percentage readout will track accurately.

Windows is reporting the new battery's capacity as lower than the rated 39.9Wh — why?

The Wh figure shown in Windows pulls from EEPROM data embedded in the cell, not from a live measurement. A freshly installed replacement cell may carry EEPROM values written at the factory before final chemistry calibration, so the reported Wh can differ from the rated 39.9Wh. This is a data display issue, not a capacity defect. After two full discharge-charge cycles, the system recalculates against actual measured output and the reported figure corrects itself.

The new battery stops charging at 80% and never goes higher — is this a faulty cell?

The VAIO S15 BIOS includes a BIOS-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% when battery care mode is active in the Sony power management settings. This is a firmware setting, not a fault with the replacement cell. Open Sony | VAIO Settings, navigate to the Battery Care Function, and switch the charge limit from 80% to Full Charge. The battery will then charge to 100%.
