This 3.8V, 2500mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the internal battery in the Sony Xperia X Performance and Xperia X Performance TD-LTE Dual. It fits model numbers F8131 and F8132, covering both single-SIM and dual-SIM variants. Dimensions are 71.80 × 53.80 × 4.80mm — match these against your original cell before installation.
- F8131 and F8132 coverage: Both variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the full X Performance lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge sequence on an F8132 unit. The BMS accepted the handshake without fault codes, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking from the first cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Xperia X Performance after a cell swap
The Xperia X Performance uses a coulomb counter-based fuel gauge IC that was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell has a different internal resistance profile, so the gauge can misread remaining capacity. Under modem load or screen-on bursts, the cell voltage drops faster than the IC expects, triggering an emergency shutdown well above 0%. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging corrects the calibration and eliminates premature shutdowns.
Phone does not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage. If the voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage and blocks normal startup. The phone will show no response — no boot screen, no charge indicator. Connect the phone to a wall charger rated at least 5V/1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without interruption. Once the BMS detects voltage above its recovery threshold, the charge indicator will appear and the phone will respond normally.

Fast charging stopped working on my Xperia X Performance right after I replaced the battery — what happened?
Sony's proprietary charge protocol requires the BMS to complete a handshake with the charge IC before high-current charging is allowed. On the first cycle after installation, the charge IC often defaults to standard 5V/1A input until the BMS handshake is confirmed and the fuel gauge IC has baseline data. Charge the phone once at standard speed through a full cycle. Fast charging typically resumes on the second charge without any settings change.
The battery percentage on my X Performance jumps around erratically — it went from 60% to 40% in minutes without heavy use.
Erratic percentage jumps are a fuel gauge IC symptom, not a cell defect. The coulomb counter is extrapolating from discharge data it collected on the old cell, so its predictions are inaccurate on the new cell. Let the phone discharge to below 5% naturally — no top-ups — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that one calibration cycle, the readings will stabilise and track the actual cell state accurately.
