Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Stripe WisePad 3 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HVC453450)
This is a 3.7V, 800mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Stripe WisePad 3 and WPC32 payment terminals. It slots in when the original cell loses capacity and the terminal can no longer hold charge through a normal transaction shift. Part number HVC453450 matches the OEM connector and BMS interface on both models.
- WisePad 3 and WPC32 compatibility: Both terminals run on the same 3.7V power rail and use the same HVC453450 cell format with identical connector pinout and BMS communication protocol — one battery covers both units.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the terminal through full boot-to-idle and active transaction sequences. The BMS accepted the new cell without error flags, and the charge IC entered normal CC/CV cycle without triggering protection cutoff.
- First deployment tip for WisePad 3: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before using the terminal in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
WisePad 3 rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
A freshly installed cell can cause mid-transaction reboots if the BMS hasn't completed its initial handshake with the terminal's charge IC. When the receipt printer motor fires or the NFC reader pulses, current draw spikes briefly above the BMS overcurrent threshold on an uncalibrated cell. The BMS reads this as a fault and cuts output, dropping the terminal. Run the unit through two or three full boot-charge cycles before live deployment to let the BMS settle its overcurrent trip point.
Terminal won't power on after sitting unused in a drawer
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge at roughly 2–5% per month, and the WisePad 3's standby draw accelerates this if the unit isn't fully powered down. After extended storage, the cell voltage can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V — and the terminal refuses to boot. Connect the terminal to the OEM charger and leave it for at least 60 minutes without pressing the power button; the charge IC needs time to trickle-charge the cell back above the 2.8V reinitialisation threshold before the BMS will allow a boot sequence.

Frequently Asked Questions
My WisePad 3 shows the battery indicator stuck at 99% after charging the new battery — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. The charge IC on the WisePad 3 enters a top-off trickle mode on a new cell and holds the display at 99% until it confirms the cell is fully saturated. This can take 30–60 minutes longer than a normal charge cycle on a used battery. Once the IC exits top-off mode, the indicator will move to 100% and the reading will track normally from that point forward.
The WisePad 3 won't complete its startup sequence after I installed the new battery — it gets partway through the boot screen and freezes.
This is a BMS handshake issue. The terminal runs a PCI security boot check that queries the battery's protection circuit before allowing full system startup. On a new cell, the BMS hasn't yet synced with the terminal's firmware, so the boot sequence stalls. Plug the terminal into the charger, let it sit powered on for a full charge cycle without interrupting it, then perform a clean power-off and reboot — that cycle completes the BMS initialisation and the terminal should boot fully.
The WisePad 3 gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is the battery causing this?
The warmth comes from combined load, not a single source. During high-volume periods the terminal is running the display, NFC or chip reader, wireless radio, and receipt printer simultaneously, and the 800mAh cell is supplying all of it. That combined draw generates heat across the battery and the main board together. Keep the terminal out of enclosed spaces like jacket pockets during heavy use — ambient airflow is enough to keep operating temperature within safe range, but trapped heat will cause the BMS to throttle output sooner.
