Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Summer Glimpse 29600-10 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (29600-10, 29580-10)
This is a 4.8V, 1000mAh Ni-MH battery for the parent unit of the Summer Glimpse and Infant Full View 5" Video Baby Monitor systems. It also fits the In View, Full View, and more than ten additional Summer monitor models sharing the same OEM part numbers 29600-10 and 29580-10. Voltage and capacity match the original Summer specification exactly.
- Glimpse and Infant Full View series compatibility: These Summer monitor lines share the same 4.8V Ni-MH cell configuration, connector pinout, and battery bay dimensions — 46.40 × 42.50 × 10.80mm — so one battery part number covers the full range without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the parent unit's charge and discharge circuit, confirmed the NTC thermistor line communicated correctly with the charger, and verified the unit held a stable display and audio link throughout the discharge cycle.
- Night vision charge threshold: The IR LEDs on Summer parent units draw additional current in low-light mode. If you swap the battery and use the monitor immediately in a dark room, night vision may flicker. Charge the parent unit fully before the first overnight session.
Parent unit not connecting to camera unit after battery swap
When the parent unit loses power completely — which happens during a battery swap — many Summer monitors drop their stored wireless pairing with the camera unit. The radio module reinitialises on boot but may not automatically renegotiate the link. If the screen shows "searching" or displays no video after the swap, manually re-pair by holding the pair button on the camera unit until the parent unit locks on. This is not a battery fault — it is a power-loss reset behaviour in the monitor firmware.
Parent unit battery draining faster overnight than it did when new
Running the screen on continuously through the night is a sustained high-draw condition for a 1000mAh cell. Ni-MH capacity also drops in the first few charge cycles on a fresh battery — expect the first two cycles to show shorter run time than subsequent ones. Enable the screen timeout in the parent unit's settings so the display dims between alerts. After three full charge and discharge cycles, capacity stabilises at its rated 1000mAh level.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Summer baby monitor shows "searching" and won't connect to the camera after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
A full power loss during the battery swap clears the wireless pairing stored in the parent unit's radio module. This is a firmware reset behaviour, not a battery fault. Hold the pair button on the camera unit for five seconds while the parent unit is on and searching — the parent unit will lock onto the camera signal and restore the video feed. You only need to do this once after a swap.
The night vision on the parent unit flickers or goes dark right after I installed the replacement battery — is the battery faulty?
The IR LEDs that power night vision draw more current than normal display operation, and a freshly installed Ni-MH cell may not yet be at full charge. If the battery voltage is below the IR LED threshold, the parent unit cuts night vision to protect the display circuit. Charge the parent unit fully — until the indicator shows complete — before using it overnight. If night vision still flickers after a full charge, check that the battery connector is fully seated in the bay.
The range on my Summer monitor seems shorter after the battery replacement — calls drop and the signal breaks up further from the nursery than before.
The parent unit's 2.4GHz radio transmit power is voltage-sensitive — a partially charged Ni-MH cell delivers lower voltage than a full one, which reduces effective range. A fresh Ni-MH battery also needs one or two full cycles before it reaches rated capacity. Charge the parent unit completely before testing range, then walk the signal boundary again. If range is still reduced after two full charge cycles, confirm the replacement battery is reading 4.8V at the connector with a multimeter.
