Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sanitas SBY 98 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (1ICP6/30/48)

This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-Polymer battery fits the Sanitas SBY 98 baby monitor parent unit. It replaces the original 1ICP6/30/48 cell when capacity fades or the unit stops holding charge. Dimensions are 50.10 x 30.00 x 6.00mm — confirm against your existing cell before fitting.

  • SBY 98 parent unit fit: The parent unit runs on a single flat Li-Polymer cell at 3.7V nominal. The connector, cell footprint, and BMS communication protocol are matched to the SBY 98 circuit board — no modification needed to seat the battery.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SBY 98 parent unit. The BMS accepted the cell, regulated charge termination correctly at 4.2V, and held voltage under sustained audio transmission load without cutoff.
  • Post-swap re-pairing: After fitting a new battery, the SBY 98 parent unit loses its wireless link to the base station — complete power loss clears the pairing state. Press and hold the pairing button on the base station, then follow the link sequence on the parent unit before use.

Parent unit not connecting to the camera unit after battery swap

When the parent unit runs flat and is then replaced, the radio module loses its stored link address. The SBY 98 does not retain pairing data across a full power cycle — this is a firmware behaviour, not a fault with the new battery. To restore the link, power on both units, initiate pairing from the base station first, then select scan or pair on the parent unit. Once linked, the connection holds through normal power-off cycles as long as the battery does not fully discharge again.

Parent unit battery draining overnight with screen active

The SBY 98 parent unit screen draws significant current during night-time operation, especially with backlight on and audio monitoring active. A 900mAh cell under sustained screen-on load will deplete faster than users expect compared to a fresh OEM cell. Enable the screen timeout function in the parent unit menu — the audio channel stays live while the display sleeps. Check the unit is sitting below 3.5V at wake-up; if so, the screen timeout is not activating correctly and the setting needs to be saved again after the battery swap.

Frequently Asked Questions

The parent unit shows full bars after charging but range drops to a few metres — is the new battery the cause?

Radio output power on the SBY 98 is voltage-sensitive. If the cell was fitted and used before reaching a full charge, the radio module runs at reduced voltage and transmits at lower power. Charge the parent unit uninterrupted until the charge indicator clears, then test range — the unit needs to reach 4.2V at the cell before the radio operates at full output.

Night vision on the camera cuts out shortly after the parent unit battery was replaced — what's happening?

Night vision on the SBY 98 is controlled by the base station, not the parent unit battery — so the parent unit cell is not directly causing the IR LEDs to fail. However, if the re-pairing sequence after the battery swap was incomplete, the parent unit may be sending incorrect commands to the base station. Run through the full pairing sequence again, confirm the link indicator is solid rather than flashing, then test night vision in a dark room.

The parent unit won't take a charge after sitting unused for several months with the new battery installed — what do I do?

A Li-Polymer cell that has self-discharged below approximately 2.5V will cause the charger circuit to refuse a normal charge cycle — the BMS blocks current to protect the cell. Connect the charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes without disturbing the unit; some BMS circuits trickle-charge a deeply discharged cell back above the threshold before switching to normal charge mode. If the charge indicator still does not activate after that period, check that the charging contacts on the parent unit are clean and making firm contact with the cradle.
