This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell powers the parent handset for cordless operation and full-range connectivity.
Cylindrical 18650 form factor; slides into the battery slot with flat positive terminal facing the contact plate.
We charged this cell in the VM819 handset — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault codes.
After battery swap, re-pair the parent unit with the camera unit using the sync button — wireless link resets when handset loses full power.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech VM819 / VM5266 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650CB)

This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM battery in the V Tech VM819 and VM5266 baby monitor parent units. It restores cordless operation to the handset, letting you carry it between rooms without losing the nursery feed. Voltage and capacity match the original INR18650CB specification exactly.

  • VM819 and VM5266 parent unit fit: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with an identical connector and BMS handshake, so one cell covers the full range. The VM5266 5 Inch variant uses the same battery bay and draw profile as the standard VM5266.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the VM819 parent unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge curve without triggering a fault flag. Discharge held steady across screen-on, audio streaming, and night-vision active states.
  • Re-pair after every battery swap: The VM819 parent unit loses its wireless link to the camera unit when battery power drops to zero. After fitting this battery and charging, press and hold the link button on both units to re-establish the connection — skipping this step is the most common post-swap complaint.

Why the VM819 parent unit won't connect to the camera after a battery swap

The VM819 stores its pairing data in volatile memory that resets when the cell goes completely flat or is removed. When the battery is swapped out, that link drops. The camera unit continues broadcasting, but the parent unit wakes up with no stored channel. Pressing the link or pair button on both units simultaneously re-initialises the DECT handshake and restores the feed within a few seconds.

Night vision cuts out or stays dark after fitting a new battery

The IR LEDs on the VM819 camera draw from the camera unit's own power supply, but the parent unit's display of that IR feed requires the radio receiver to run at full signal strength — which is voltage-sensitive. If the new battery is installed at low charge, the parent unit's radio output drops and the night-vision image appears black or cuts in and out. Charge the parent unit to full before testing night vision; at 3.7V nominal the image should stabilise immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VM819 parent unit shows the camera feed for a few seconds then goes blank — is this the battery?

Most likely yes, if the battery is new and unformed. A partially charged cell can hold enough voltage to boot the parent unit but sags under the sustained draw of the display and radio together, triggering the BMS to cut the load. Charge the parent unit fully before use — the INR18650CB needs at least one full charge cycle before it holds a stable voltage under load.

The VM819 parent unit battery drains completely overnight even with the baby sleeping quietly

The screen staying on all night is the primary cause. The VM819 display and radio receiver together draw continuously when the screen is active, even if audio output is silent. Go into the parent unit menu and enable the screen timeout or VOX mode, which cuts the display until sound triggers it. This alone significantly reduces overnight draw without affecting audio monitoring.

My VM819 parent unit range dropped after I fitted the new battery — it cuts out two rooms away

The DECT radio in the parent unit is voltage-sensitive; below a certain charge level, transmit power is reduced and range falls noticeably. This is not a fault with the battery itself. Charge the parent unit fully and retest range — at full charge the INR18650CB should bring the radio back to its normal operating voltage of 3.7V and restore coverage across multiple rooms.
