Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NUK ECO Control Audio 500 / 530D+ — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (1ICP5/38/55)

This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the NUK ECO Control Audio 500 and ECO Control Audio 530D+ parent units. It fits the portable handset that parents carry around the home while the base unit stays in the nursery. Capacity is 1200mAh (4.44Wh), matching the OEM specification.

  • ECO Control Audio 500 and 530D+ parent units: Both models share the same parent unit housing, 3.7V power rail, and 1ICP5/38/55 cell footprint. The BMS in each handset communicates at the same voltage threshold, so one cell covers both variants without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge and discharge cycles on the parent unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the battery, reached full charge voltage at 4.2V, and held the radio and speaker circuits live without triggering a protection cutoff.
  • Re-pair after power loss: After fitting a new battery, the parent unit will have lost all power. Baby monitor handsets store their wireless link in volatile memory — when that power drops to zero, the pairing clears. Initiate a fresh pairing between the parent unit and the nursery base unit before expecting audio transmission.

Why the ECO Control Audio 500 parent unit loses range after a battery swap

The 500's radio transmitter draws more current during signal negotiation than during idle monitoring. If the new battery is not fully charged before first use, the cell voltage sags under that load, and the radio steps down its output power to stay within the BMS protection window. This produces noticeably reduced range — not a fault with the battery or the unit. Charge the parent unit to 4.2V on the dock before carrying it away from the base station.

Parent unit showing full charge but dying within hours overnight

This happens when the original battery has aged past the point where its internal resistance allows a meaningful charge cycle — the unit reports full because voltage looks correct at rest, but capacity is gone. A replacement cell at 1200mAh restores true charge capacity. Once fitted, enable the screen timeout in the parent unit's display settings — leaving the backlit screen active overnight is a sustained draw that will shorten any cell's useful charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

The parent unit won't connect to the nursery base after I swapped the battery — did I get a faulty cell?

The battery is not the cause. Baby monitor parent units store their wireless pairing in volatile memory, and a complete power loss — which happens every time the battery is removed — clears that link entirely. The unit is simply unpaired, not faulty. Run the pairing sequence from the parent unit menu, following the ECO Control Audio 500 manual's pairing steps, and the audio link will restore.

Night vision on the nursery camera stopped working right after I replaced the parent unit battery — what's happening?

Night vision on the base unit camera is a separate circuit from the parent unit battery, so the swap itself didn't cause the fault. What has happened is that the parent unit lost its settings during the power interruption, and the night vision mode may need to be re-enabled from the parent unit controls. If the camera IR LEDs still don't activate, charge the parent unit fully to 4.2V first — some monitor models suppress IR activation when the parent unit reports low charge on a fresh, uncharged cell.

The replacement battery drains much faster when I use the parent unit on the highest volume setting — is that normal?

Yes. The ECO Control Audio 500 speaker is the single largest current draw on the parent unit. Running at maximum volume significantly increases the load on the 1200mAh cell compared to mid-range volume or alert-only mode. Drop the volume to a level where you can still hear clearly and use the unit's sensitivity adjustment on the base unit instead — this lets the base do more of the work and reduces how often the speaker in the parent unit activates.
