Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sunseeker RMA1001M20V Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LBF2025)
This is a 20V Li-ion replacement battery rated at 3400mAh (68Wh), using OEM part number LBF2025. It fits the Sunseeker RMA1001M20V, RMA301M20V, RMA501M20V, and RMA801M20V cordless lawn mowers. Same voltage rail, same connector, same BMS communication protocol across all four models.
- RMA Series compatibility: All four RMA models share the same 20V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. The mower deck and drive motor specs differ across the range, but the battery slot, discharge profile, and communication lines are identical — one battery fits all four.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through repeated blade-start cycles simulating thick-grass inrush current. The BMS held trip thresholds consistent with OEM spec and recovered cleanly after each high-draw pulse without locking out the pack.
- Seasonal storage tip: If the mower has sat unused since last season, check the pack voltage before charging. Cells that drop below 2.5V per cell over winter may not be accepted by the charger until a pre-charge recovery is attempted — most Sunseeker chargers show a fault light in this state. Charge indoors at room temperature before the first mow of the season.
BMS cutoff on thick-grass and wet-grass blade load
The blade motor on the RMA series draws a sharp inrush current every time it bites into dense or wet grass. If that spike exceeds the BMS overcurrent threshold — which sits lower on a warm or partially discharged pack — the BMS cuts power to protect the cells. The mower stops mid-row, then restarts once the BMS resets. Keeping the blade sharp reduces the motor load and lowers the inrush current on each cut pass, which keeps the BMS from tripping in the first place.
Mower cuts out mid-row then recovers after a short pause
This is thermal protection activating, not a dead battery. The BMS monitors cell temperature and shuts discharge when internal temps exceed the safe threshold — typically around 60°C at the cell wall. It clears automatically once the pack cools. If this happens consistently, allow a 5-minute cooldown between battery cycles and avoid mowing in direct midday sun where the pack surface temperature is already elevated before the cut begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
The charger shows a fault light when I plug in the battery after it sat in the garage all winter — is the pack dead?
Not necessarily. Li-ion cells that self-discharge below the charger's acceptance threshold over winter (roughly 2.5V per cell) trigger a fault because the charger won't begin a standard charge cycle on an under-voltage pack. Bring the battery indoors and let it reach room temperature for a few hours, then try the charger again — some Sunseeker chargers will attempt a slow pre-charge recovery once the pack is warm. If the fault clears and the charge cycle begins, the pack is recoverable. If the fault persists after warming, check the pack voltage with a multimeter — below 10V across the pack terminals indicates the cells are too far discharged to recover.
The mower feels noticeably weaker in cold weather even with a fully charged battery — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. Li-ion cells lose available capacity below 10°C because lower temperatures increase internal resistance, which reduces the current the cells can deliver to the blade motor. The pack reads full on the indicator but can't sustain the same discharge rate it would at 20°C. Bring the battery indoors the night before a cold-morning mow — a pack at 18–20°C will outperform one that's been sitting in a 5°C shed all night, and the BMS is far less likely to trip on the blade-start inrush current when the cells are warm.
The new battery runs noticeably hotter than my old one did — should I be concerned?
New Li-ion cells have a slightly higher internal resistance before the electrolyte fully conditions, which means more heat during the first few discharge cycles. This is normal and typically settles after 4–5 full charge and discharge cycles through the mower. If the pack is still running hot after five cycles, check that the battery slot and contacts on the mower deck are clean and making full contact — a dirty or corroded contact point increases resistance at the terminal, which generates additional heat during high-draw cutting passes.
