Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

T-Mobile EB484659VA — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 1200mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original T-Mobile EB484659VA battery. It fits devices that draw from this battery platform, restoring power for calls, messaging, and mobile data. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec exactly — no modification needed for installation.

  • EB484659VA platform compatibility: Samsung-manufactured cells under this OEM part number share a standardised connector pinout and BMS handshake profile. The replacement cell carries the same BMS communication lines, so the host device recognises the battery without triggering a hardware fault.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the bench, monitoring BMS cutoff behaviour at both the high and low voltage thresholds. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage floor with no latching fault observed.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.

Why the phone reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches actual cell chemistry or capacity. The IC then interpolates percentage against the wrong baseline, producing readings that jump or plateau at incorrect values. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard current forces the coulomb counter to reset and remap against the replacement cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem or display pulls a high current burst and the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the reported percentage looks safe. The fuel gauge is reading an averaged voltage, not the instantaneous sag under load. A freshly installed cell with an uncalibrated gauge is most vulnerable to this on the first few cycles. Let the phone complete two full discharge-charge cycles and the gauge will track the voltage cliff accurately enough to warn before shutdown.

Frequently Asked Questions

The phone won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

The BMS locks out when cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V during storage, cutting all output to prevent further discharge damage. The cell is not dead — it needs a trickle charge to bring voltage above the BMS recovery threshold before normal charging resumes. Plug into a wall charger rather than a PC USB port, which may not supply enough current to wake the BMS. Leave it connected for 20–30 minutes; if the charging indicator does not appear, repeat with a different cable and charger to rule out current delivery issues.

Fast charging stopped working on this phone after I fitted the replacement battery — worked fine before.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge handshake can fail because the charge IC detects an uncalibrated cell and defaults to standard current as a protective measure. This is not a fault with the battery or the charger. Run one complete charge at standard speed, let the phone discharge normally, then plug back in — fast charging typically resumes on the second cycle once the charge IC has profiled the new cell's impedance.

The battery percentage jumps around erratically — drops 10% instantly then jumps back up.

Erratic percentage readings point directly to the coulomb counter recalibrating against a cell it has not yet profiled. The gauge inherited a discharge curve from the old battery and is interpolating incorrectly against the new cell's actual voltage steps. Drain the phone down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without unplugging early. After that single full cycle the fuel gauge IC will have enough data points to report percentage accurately.
