One full discharge-to-shutdown cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to recalibrate against the new cell's real curve. After that single cycle, percentage reporting stabilises.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — a voltage cliff — before the fuel gauge reads zero. The phone won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for months — what happened?
Extended storage drained the cell below the BMS lockout threshold, typically under 2.5V. At that voltage, the BMS cuts output entirely to protect the cell from permanent damage. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold, after which the phone will boot normally. The Touch Pro 2 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging — is that normal with this cell?
