The fix is a full discharge cycle: let the phone run down until it powers off on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one complete cycle the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell's actual curve and the premature cutoffs stop.

Li-ion cells that sit discharged for extended periods can drop below 2.5V per cell, triggering BMS lockout — the protection circuit opens and blocks current flow to prevent damage. Plugging in the charger shows no response because the BMS will not pass charge until voltage recovers above the recovery threshold. Connect the phone to a wall adapter and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — many charge ICs apply a trickle current that slowly brings the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point normal charging resumes.
