Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Peek Pronto / 9 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PK-BAT-001)
This is a 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion cell for the Peek Pronto and Peek 9 messaging devices. Both models share the same battery bay dimensions (41 × 34 × 5mm) and the same OEM part number, PK-BAT-001. If your Pronto or 9 no longer holds a charge, this cell is the direct swap.
- Pronto and Peek 9 compatibility: Both devices run the same voltage rail and use an identical connector pinout, which is why Peek assigned them a single part number. The BMS handshake requirements are the same across both units, so one cell covers either device without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Peek platform, monitoring BMS cutoff at both ends. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage floor and accepted charge current without thermal event.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After fitting this cell, let the device discharge fully to auto-off before charging to 100%. The Peek's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to your old degraded cell — one complete cycle resets the coulomb counter against the new discharge curve and stops erratic percentage readings.
Why the Peek Pronto reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The Peek Pronto uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks charge by counting coulombs in and out of the cell. When the original cell degrades, the IC silently adjusts its internal model to match the smaller usable capacity. A new 750mAh cell has a steeper, healthier discharge curve — one the gauge has never seen. Until it runs one full cycle, the IC maps the new cell against the old degraded profile, which causes the percentage readout to jump or stall. One complete discharge-to-auto-off followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the calibration.
Peek Pronto not powering on after sitting in storage
Li-ion cells stored in a discharged state can drop below 2.5V per cell, which triggers BMS lockout — a hard protection state that blocks charge current entirely. The device will show no response when plugged in. To recover, connect the charger and leave it undisturbed for 20–40 minutes; most BMS circuits allow a trickle pre-charge at low voltage to bring the cell above the lockout threshold before resuming normal charging. If the device still shows no sign of life after 45 minutes, check that the charger output is at least 5V 500mA at the cable tip.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Peek Pronto shuts off suddenly when the percentage still shows 20–25% — is the new battery faulty?
This is a voltage cliff, not a faulty cell. At low state-of-charge, the cell voltage drops sharply under the load of the radio or display backlight, hitting the BMS cutoff floor even though the fuel gauge still reads 20–25%. The gauge is counting coulombs but not yet tracking real cell voltage under load accurately. Run one full discharge-to-auto-off cycle followed by a complete charge to 100% — this lets the fuel gauge IC anchor its model to the actual voltage curve of the new cell.
The Peek Pronto feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges after a replacement — is that normal?
A new high-impedance cell generates slightly more heat during early charge cycles than a broken-in one. The charge IC on the Pronto pushes current into a cell whose internal resistance hasn't yet stabilised, which produces mild warmth. This typically settles after three full charge cycles as the cell's impedance drops to its rated level. If the device becomes hot to the touch or the warmth persists past five cycles, check that you are not charging through a high-current USB port delivering above 1A.
The battery percentage on my Peek Pronto jumps erratically — it reads 60%, then skips to 80%, then drops to 40% within minutes.
This is the fuel gauge IC actively recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve. The old cell had a flattened, unpredictable curve after years of degradation, so the IC's stored model is no longer accurate. It attempts to correct on the fly, causing the jumps. Complete one full discharge-to-auto-off followed by a continuous charge to 100% without interruption — this gives the coulomb counter a clean reference cycle and the percentage readout should stabilise from that point forward.
