Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telstra 4GX Buzz — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.8V, 2300mAh lithium-ion battery for the Telstra 4GX Buzz Android smartphone. It fits directly into the original battery bay and restores power capacity lost through cell degradation. Dimensions are 66.60 × 50.20 × 5.30mm — confirm your original cell matches before installing.
- 4GX Buzz platform fit: The 4GX Buzz runs a standard 3.8V nominal rail with a charge ceiling of 4.35V. This cell matches that rail. The phone's charge IC communicates directly with the cell — no adapter or wiring change is needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge on the 4GX Buzz platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC stepped through its taper phase correctly at end-of-charge.
- First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration: After installation, disable fast charging in the phone's settings and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins.
Why the 4GX Buzz shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a battery swap
The 4GX Buzz uses a coulomb-counter fuel gauge that was calibrated to the discharge curve of the original — usually degraded — cell. When a new cell with a steeper voltage cliff is installed, the gauge's stored curve no longer matches the actual cell behaviour. Under modem or screen load, voltage drops faster than predicted, and the phone triggers a protective shutdown before the gauge reaches 0%. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete uninterrupted charge resets the calibration reference and stops the early cutoff.
Battery percentage jumping erratically after installation
Erratic percentage readings — jumping from 45% to 62% or dropping 15% in seconds — point to the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against an unfamiliar cell impedance profile. The gauge interpolates state-of-charge from voltage and current data, and a new cell's internal resistance differs from the worn original. The fix is straightforward: let the phone discharge fully to auto-shutdown, then charge without interruption to 100%. After that single anchored cycle, the gauge locks onto the new cell's curve and percentage readings stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions
The phone won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few weeks — is the battery dead?
It's almost certainly a BMS lockout, not a dead cell. If the cell voltage dropped below 2.5V during storage, the battery management system trips a protection circuit and blocks output entirely. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a computer USB port — and leave it for 20 minutes before attempting to power on. Most BMS circuits on this cell chemistry recover once the charger pushes voltage back above the lockout threshold.
Fast charging stopped working after I put the new battery in — it only trickle charges now.
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the 4GX Buzz's charge IC may not immediately handshake with the new cell's BMS for high-current charging. It defaults to a slow trickle rate as a precaution. Run one full standard charge — wall charger, fast charge disabled in settings — then drain the phone to shutdown. On the second cycle, re-enable fast charging; the IC should step up to its normal charge rate once it has one complete cycle logged against the new cell.
The phone feels warm near the battery during charging — is something wrong with the new cell?
Mild warmth during the first few charge cycles is normal with a new high-impedance cell. A fresh lithium-ion cell has higher internal resistance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more energy as heat during the constant-current phase. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — above roughly 45°C — or the charger disconnects mid-cycle, stop charging and check that the battery contacts are fully seated and free of debris. Warmth that fades after two or three cycles is the cell breaking in; heat that persists past that point needs investigation.
