Fits Typhoon MyGuide SilverGuide 5000 and SilverGuide 5000 NAV GPS navigators, replacing OEM part 541380530001 and BP-L1200/11-B0001.
3.7V and 1250mAh capacity restores full power to your handheld GPS unit for continuous route navigation and location tracking.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a locking tab that seats flush when fully inserted into the device.
We bench-tested this cell in a SilverGuide 5000 unit — BMS accepted the new pack on first power cycle with no fault codes.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before active navigation — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Typhoon MyGuide SilverGuide 5000 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (541380530001)

This 3.7V 1250mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Typhoon MyGuide SilverGuide 5000 and SilverGuide 5000 NAV portable GPS navigators. It matches OEM part numbers 541380530001 and BP-L1200/11-B0001. Capacity is 1250mAh (4.63Wh), identical to the factory specification.

  • SilverGuide 5000 and 5000 NAV fit: Both variants use the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and voltage rail. The 5000 NAV adds preloaded maps but draws from the same cell at 3.7V — one battery covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the SilverGuide 5000 platform. The BMS engaged correctly at low-voltage cutoff and accepted a full charge without triggering thermal protection flags.
  • Cold-start behaviour after fitting: After fitting this cell, power the GPS on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. A full power interruption forces a cold start — first fix can take 5–10 minutes while the unit rebuilds its almanac. Subsequent warm starts are under a minute.

Why the SilverGuide 5000 shuts off without showing a low-battery warning

The SilverGuide 5000 uses a voltage-threshold system to estimate remaining charge. When the original cell ages, its internal resistance rises and voltage sags faster under load than the indicator expects. The device hits the hardware cutoff voltage before the software warning has a chance to display. After fitting a fresh cell, run two or three full charge and discharge cycles so the device can recalibrate its threshold readings against the new cell's actual discharge curve.

Saved routes and POIs missing after battery replacement

Some GPS navigators store user data — saved routes, custom POIs, recent destinations — in battery-backed SRAM that loses its state the moment power is fully removed. Swapping the battery cuts that power, which clears volatile memory even if the internal flash holds map data. If routes are gone after the swap, they were in SRAM and are not recoverable from the battery itself. Re-enter critical destinations before the swap or export them to the SD card first using the device's backup function.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SilverGuide 5000 is taking forever to find satellites after I put the new battery in — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery clears the almanac data the GPS uses to predict satellite positions, forcing a cold start. First fix after a cold start takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Move away from buildings, leave the device stationary, and wait — once it locks on, subsequent starts will be under a minute.

The SilverGuide 5000 battery drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus when it's just sitting idle — is that normal?

Yes, and the gap is significant. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously, keeps the display at full brightness, and processes map tiles in real time — all at once. Standby or menu use cuts receiver polling and dims the display, which drops current draw substantially. If drain during navigation seems excessive, reduce display brightness in the settings menu and confirm the backlight timeout is not set to "always on."

The GPS accuracy on my SilverGuide 5000 seems worse when the battery indicator is low — can that actually happen?

It can. Some GPS units reduce receiver sensitivity or polling frequency at low battery to extend remaining power. When the original cell degrades, the device spends more time near that low-voltage threshold, which means reduced receiver performance becomes the default state rather than the exception. Fitting a fresh 1250mAh cell restores normal operating voltage and keeps the receiver running at full sensitivity. Check position accuracy after a full charge cycle — it should return to normal.
