This is a 10.8V, 1800mAh Li-ion battery pack for the Toshiba VC-CLS2, VC-CLS11, and VC-CLS1 cordless stick vacuums. It replaces OEM part numbers BM-320AC-J2 and BM-320AJ-J2. The pack slots directly into the existing battery housing with no modification required.

  • VC-CLS series compatibility: The VC-CLS2, VC-CLS11, and VC-CLS1 all run the same 10.8V platform with an identical connector and BMS handshake. All three models draw from the same cell configuration, so one replacement covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on VC-CLS series hardware. The BMS responded correctly to charger handshake, held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold, and did not trigger false overcurrent trips under normal floor and carpet suction loads.
  • Dock charging habit on stick vacuums: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Toshiba VC-CLS vacuums on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than those charged only when the battery is depleted. Charge to full and remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This is one of the most misread symptoms on cordless stick vacuums. The battery indicator shows mid-charge, but suction falls noticeably — most owners assume the battery is faulty. The actual cause is usually voltage sag under load: a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw harder, pulling cell voltage below what the motor needs to spin at full speed. Clean the filter first and retest — if suction recovers, the battery was fine.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and then restarting after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, stuck debris in the brush head, or a sealed floor vent — the motor draws sustained current above the BMS threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cells, then resets once current demand drops. Clear the blockage and check the filter. If the cutouts stop, the battery and BMS are working exactly as they should.

My Toshiba VC-CLS2 loses suction halfway through a clean but the battery light still shows green — is the battery dying?

Not necessarily. A green indicator with dropping suction usually points to a restricted filter forcing the motor to sag cell voltage under load, not a failing cell. Pull the filter out and check it — even a partially clogged filter makes the motor draw well above its rated current. Clean or replace the filter, then retest suction from a full charge.

The vacuum cuts out after about 30 seconds on carpet, then starts again if I wait — what's causing that?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. Dense carpet or a blocked brush roll creates a sustained high-current draw, and the BMS shuts the motor off to protect the cells before resetting. Check the brush roll for tangled hair or fibre and inspect the filter for restriction. Once the blockage is cleared, the BMS should stop tripping — if cutouts continue on a clean machine, verify cell voltage at rest sits above 10.0V.

My VC-CLS1 battery faded fast after only a few months — could continuous dock charging have caused it?

Yes. Leaving a Li-ion stick vacuum on the dock permanently exposes the cells to low-level trickle current, which accelerates capacity loss well ahead of normal cycle wear. The replacement battery will hold capacity longer if you charge it only when depleted and remove it from the dock once the indicator shows full. Avoid storing the pack below around 10.0V or above a full charge for extended periods.
