Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TP-Link Neffos Y5 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (NBL-39A2130)
This is a 3.85V, 2050mAh Li-Polymer cell built to replace the original NBL-39A2130 in the Neffos Y5 smartphone. It fits directly into the Y5 handset — same connector, same footprint at 62.22 x 63.60 x 3.90mm. Use this when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.
- Neffos Y5 fitment: The Y5 uses a dedicated connector and a BMS that handshakes with the phone's charge IC at 3.85V nominal. Swapping in a cell at the wrong voltage rail or with an incompatible BMS profile trips a charge fault. This cell matches the original voltage and connector spec to avoid that.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Neffos Y5 platform. The BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly on the first cycle, and charge IC communication stayed stable under normal screen-on and modem load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Running one slow cycle first lets it map the new cell's actual capacity before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated state.
Why the Neffos Y5 shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop under modem and display load at lower states of charge. When voltage dips below the phone's hardware cutoff threshold — typically around 3.2–3.3V under load — the device shuts off even though the percentage shown looks safe. Running one full discharge to 0% and a full charge to 100% without interruption resets the coulomb counter and aligns reported percentage with actual cell voltage.
Phone won't power on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage. If voltage has dropped below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent damage and the phone will not respond to a power button press. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without attempting to power on. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs back above the BMS recovery threshold, typically 2.8–3.0V, before normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Neffos Y5 shows 25% battery and then just switches off — is the new cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC calibrated its discharge curve against your old, degraded cell and that mapping carries over after a swap. Under modem or screen load the new cell's voltage dips faster at lower charge states, hitting the hardware cutoff before the percentage catches up. Run one uninterrupted full discharge to 0% followed by a full charge to 100% — the coulomb counter will recalibrate and the shutdowns should stop.
Fast charging stopped working after I fitted this battery — the phone just slow-charges now.
This is normal on the first cycle after a cell replacement. The charge IC runs a handshake to verify BMS parameters before enabling higher current rates, and on an uncalibrated new cell it defaults to trickle or standard charge as a precaution. Complete one full standard charge cycle to 100%, let the phone recalibrate, then reconnect — fast charging typically re-enables on the second cycle once the BMS confirms the cell is within expected voltage and temperature range.
The battery percentage on the Neffos Y5 keeps jumping around erratically after replacement — 60% one minute, 45% the next.
Erratic percentage readings point to the fuel gauge IC recalibrating against a new cell it has no prior data for. The coulomb counter is interpolating charge state from a discharge curve that no longer matches. Charge the phone fully to 100% without interruption, then discharge it in one go to automatic shutdown — do not top up mid-cycle. That single complete cycle gives the fuel gauge IC enough data to build an accurate curve, and percentage reporting should stabilise at 3.85V nominal from that point.
