Fits USCellular Director N850L smartphones; replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion battery pack.
3.7V, 1500mAh capacity delivers sufficient charge for calls, messaging, and basic smartphone functions throughout a full day of moderate use.
Connector seats directly into the Director's internal battery slot with a single locking tab at the base — orientation is keyed.
We bench-tested this cell in a Director unit; the BMS accepted the new pack on first insertion and showed normal discharge curve under load.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

USCellular Director / N850L — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the original battery in the USCellular Director (model N850L). It fits directly into this smartphone and restores power to calls, messaging, and core functions. Capacity is rated at 5.55Wh, matching the stock cell specification.

  • Director / N850L platform fit: Both model names refer to the same hardware platform. The connector pinout, physical footprint (41 × 51 × 6mm), and BMS handshake voltage all align to the same battery slot — no adapter or modification needed.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and full discharge on the Director platform. The BMS accepted the charge profile without interruption, and protection circuits tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, disable fast charging if your Director supports it, then run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the OS starts reading percentage data from it.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Director after a cell swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC doesn't expect — typically around 3.6–3.7V under load — the OS sees a cliff and shuts down rather than risk going below the safe floor. It is not a fault with the replacement cell. One full discharge cycle from 100% down to automatic shutoff, followed by a full charge, resets the coulomb counter reference. After that cycle, percentage reporting stabilises.

Director not powering on after the battery sat discharged in storage

Li-ion cells that drop below roughly 2.5V trigger a BMS lockout to prevent damage from deep discharge. A phone that shows no response — no boot screen, no charging indicator — when connected to power is likely in this state. Connect the device to a wall charger (not a PC USB port, which may not supply enough current) and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once the cell recovers above the BMS re-enable threshold, the charging indicator will appear and normal startup resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

My USCellular Director shows 25% battery and then shuts off without warning — is the new cell faulty?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The Director's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the discharge curve of your old, degraded battery. When it encounters the new cell's voltage profile under modem or screen load, it hits an unexpected voltage drop and the OS triggers a protective shutdown. Run one complete cycle — charge to 100%, use the phone until it shuts off on its own, then charge back to 100% without interruption. That resets the coulomb counter and the shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my Director jumps around erratically after I put the new cell in — sometimes it gains 5% just sitting idle.

Erratic percentage readings after a cell swap are a fuel gauge IC calibration issue, not a cell defect. The IC is interpolating state-of-charge from a voltage-versus-capacity curve built on the old battery, and the new cell doesn't match that curve yet. Do not rely on the percentage display for the first one to two full cycles. After two complete discharge-charge cycles, the IC has enough data points to track the new cell accurately and the jumping stops.

Fast charging stopped working on my Director after I replaced the battery — it only trickle charges now.

Some charge controllers on the Director platform will not negotiate fast-charge current on the first cycle with a new BMS. The controller defaults to a conservative trickle rate until it confirms the cell's internal resistance and temperature response are within acceptable parameters. Let the first full charge complete at the slower rate without unplugging early. On the second charge cycle, the controller re-evaluates the cell and standard charge current resumes — plug into the same wall adapter you used before to confirm the adapter is not the limiting factor.
