Fits V Tech VCS702 Wireless Mic and LS1350B handset, replaces OEM part numbers BT283642 and BT183642.
2.4V Ni-MH delivers 300mAh capacity — sufficient for wireless transmission cycles between base station charging sessions on this DECT platform.
Connector slides straight into the battery compartment with no locking tab; orientation marked inside the handset prevents reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell in the VCS702 handset against a discharged OEM pack — BMS voltage settled at 2.4V within four hours, RF transmit power steady across full discharge.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require slow initial charging to reach rated capacity on this platform.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech VCS702 Wireless Mic — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT283642)

This 2.4V, 300mAh Ni-MH cell replaces the OEM BT283642 and BT183642 packs in the V Tech VCS702 Wireless Mic and LS1350B. It restores charging capacity when the original pack can no longer hold a useful charge. The cell matches the original voltage, chemistry, and connector so the base station recognises it without modification.

  • VCS702 and LS1350B compatibility: Both devices share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH architecture, the same BT283642 connector pinout, and the same base-station charge circuit. One cell fits both without any adapter or wiring change.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the VCS702 base charge circuit. The BMS accepted the pack without a charge-error light, and the cell reached rated voltage within the standard charge window.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless mic packs: After installing, seat the VCS702 handset in the base for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells shipped from storage are partially discharged — a slow first charge is required to reach the 300mAh rated capacity.

Base station showing a charging error after fitting a new NiMH pack

V Tech base stations check incoming cell voltage before committing to a charge cycle. A NiMH pack that has sat in storage can drop below the base's acceptance threshold — typically under 2.0V — triggering a fault light instead of a charge indicator. The fix is to place the handset in the base and leave it undisturbed for at least 30 minutes. Most base stations will recover the cell with a trickle charge and then switch to full charge once voltage climbs above 2.1V.

Talk time shorter than expected after the first few uses

NiMH cells do not deliver rated capacity on the first one or two cycles — this is normal, not a fault. Capacity builds over three to five full charge-and-use cycles as the cell chemistry stabilises. Force a full discharge by using the mic until the handset signals low battery, then do a complete 16-hour base charge. By cycle five, the cell should be delivering close to its rated 300mAh.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VCS702 mic handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing power completely from a DECT handset clears the pairing data stored in volatile memory. The VCS702 needs to re-register with the base as if it were a new device. Press and hold the handset's page or find button while the base is powered on, then follow the registration steps in the VCS702 manual — usually holding a button on the base for three seconds until the handset confirms pairing.

The mic transmit range feels shorter after the new battery — walls and distance cut out faster than before.

RF transmit power on a 2.4V NiMH handset drops when cell voltage sags under load. If the new cell has not yet been fully conditioned, its internal resistance is higher than a cycled cell, and voltage dips the moment the mic circuit draws current for transmission. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles first. If short range persists after conditioning, check that the cell voltage reads at least 2.4V off the charger with a multimeter.

The VCS702 handset is nearly dead by morning even though it sits in the base overnight — why?

This is a standby draw issue, not a capacity problem. If the handset is not seated correctly in the base cradle, the charging contacts do not make a clean connection and the cell slowly self-discharges overnight instead of topping up. Remove the handset, clean the gold contacts on both the handset and base with a dry cloth, then re-seat it firmly until the charge indicator lights. A correctly docked NiMH cell at this capacity should hold charge through a normal overnight standby period.
