Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone V240m Plus — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BPK474-001)
This 3.7V Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack in the VeriFone V240m Plus portable payment terminal. It fits the V240m, V240m 3G, V240m 3GBWC, and related V240m variants that use the BPK474-001 form factor. Capacity is 3400mAh (12.58Wh), matching the original specification.
- V240m platform compatibility: All V240m-series terminals share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and BPK474-001 connector pinout. The BMS communication protocol is consistent across the 3G, WiFi, and Bluetooth variants, so one replacement cell covers the full range.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the V240m boot sequence and ran card transaction loads — display backlight, NFC polling, receipt printer motor — while monitoring BMS response. The protection circuit held stable across all draw events without triggering an overcurrent trip.
- First-deployment calibration: After fitting the new battery, complete at least one full transaction cycle before going live. The V240m maps cell capacity during normal operation, and the charge indicator will not read accurately until the terminal completes one proper boot-and-use cycle.
Receipt printer motor spike causing BMS trip mid-transaction
The V240m's thermal receipt printer draws a sharp current spike at the moment the print head activates — this is the single largest instantaneous load the terminal places on the battery. An aged or partially discharged cell may sag below the BMS undervoltage threshold during that spike, triggering a protective cutoff that restarts the terminal. This replacement cell's internal resistance is low enough to supply the printer start surge without voltage sag tripping the protection circuit. If cut-outs persist after fitting a new cell, check that the terminal firmware is current — older firmware versions have a known aggressive BMS timeout setting.
Terminal will not power on after sitting unused in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge over time, and the V240m's BMS will not initialise if cell voltage has dropped below approximately 2.5V — the terminal simply shows nothing when the power button is pressed. Connect the terminal to its dock or USB-C charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. The charger applies a low-current pre-charge trickle that brings the cell back above the BMS recovery threshold. Once the charge LED shows any activity, wait until voltage reaches at least 3.0V before pressing the power button.

Frequently Asked Questions
The V240m Plus restarts every time a receipt prints — will a new battery fix this?
Yes, in most cases. The receipt printer motor pulls a sharp current spike that causes a weak or degraded cell to sag below the BMS cutoff, which restarts the terminal. This replacement cell has sufficiently low internal resistance to supply that spike without triggering the protection circuit. If restarts continue after fitting the new battery, update the terminal firmware — older versions carry an overly aggressive BMS timeout that can trip even on a healthy cell.
The charge indicator on my V240m is stuck at 99% and has been since I installed the new battery — is it faulty?
It is not faulty. The V240m's charge IC enters a top-off mode when a new cell first reaches near-full voltage, holding the indicator at 99% while it applies a low-rate finishing charge to the fresh cell. This is normal behaviour and clears after the terminal completes one full boot-and-transaction cycle. Run the device through a standard transaction, let it reach idle, then check the indicator again — it should normalise to 100% and track correctly from that point.
My V240m Plus was in a drawer for three months and now shows a blank screen — is the battery dead?
The cell has most likely self-discharged below the 2.5V threshold the BMS requires before it will allow the terminal to power on. Connect the terminal to its charging dock or a USB-C charger and leave it untouched for at least 30 minutes — the charger will apply a pre-charge trickle to recover the cell. Once the charge LED shows any sign of activity, continue charging until voltage climbs above 3.0V, then press the power button.
