Fits Verizon SCH-U940, U940 Glyde, and SCH-U940v flip phones; replaces OEM part AB603443EZ and SAMU940BATS.
Delivers 3.7V at 1000mAh capacity; powers calling, messaging, and standby on mid-2000s Samsung flip platform.
Connector slides vertically into battery slot with single locking tab on left edge; confirm tab seats flush.
Tested on bench charge cycle; BMS accepted voltage profile without fault codes or cell balancing delays.
After installation, run one full discharge-charge cycle before heavy use — the fuel gauge IC needs one complete curve to report accurate percentage on this platform.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Verizon SCH-U940 Glyde — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AB603443EZ)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion battery for the Verizon SCH-U940, also sold as the U940 Glyde and SCH-U940v. It replaces OEM part AB603443EZ in the original flip-style touchscreen handset. Capacity is 3.7Wh — matching the factory spec for this device.

  • SCH-U940, U940 Glyde, SCH-U940v compatibility: All three model designations refer to the same Samsung-built Verizon handset. The connector pinout, cell footprint, and BMS handshake are identical across the variant codes, so one cell fits all three.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge-discharge sequence on the SCH-U940 platform. The BMS accepted the charge current without fault flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: Disable any fast-charge accessories for the first complete discharge-charge cycle after fitting this cell. The fuel gauge IC on the U940 calibrates its discharge curve on that first full cycle — running it uncalibrated under high current produces erratic percentage readings from the second charge onward.

Why the U940 Glyde reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The SCH-U940 uses a fuel gauge IC that tracks capacity by measuring coulombs against a stored discharge curve. That curve was mapped to the original cell's impedance profile. A new cell has different internal resistance, so the IC's state-of-charge estimate drifts against the actual cell voltage. The fix is one complete discharge down to auto-shutoff, followed by a full uninterrupted charge. After that cycle, the IC resets its reference points against the new cell and percentage readings stabilise.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage collapses faster than the fuel gauge predicts under load — typically when the display backlight and radio fire simultaneously. The IC still shows 25% remaining, but the cell is already near 3.4V under draw and drops below the BMS cutoff threshold. On the U940, this is most visible during calls with max backlight active. Run one full calibration cycle first; if shutdowns persist, check that resting open-circuit voltage sits at or above 3.7V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My U940 Glyde won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for two years — is the battery dead?

Deep storage below 2.5V per cell triggers a BMS lockout that blocks normal power-on. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS releases the lockout. If the charging indicator appears, the cell is recovering; let it reach 3.7V open-circuit before powering on.

The battery percentage jumps from 40% straight to 15% with no warning — what's causing it?

The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve and its coulomb counter has not yet mapped the full capacity range. This is expected on a fresh cell for the first two to three cycles. Run the phone down to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without removing the charger early. After two full cycles, the counter stabilises and the percentage jumps stop.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is that normal?

A new high-impedance cell dissipates more energy as heat during the initial charge cycles than a broken-in cell does. On the U940's charge IC, this shows up as mild warmth in the lower back panel — not hot to the touch, but noticeable. It settles after two to three full cycles as cell impedance drops. If the back panel becomes too hot to hold comfortably, stop charging and check that the charger output does not exceed 5V/1A.
