Fits Vileda 137173 cordless vacuum; replaces OEM battery pack for this handheld cleaning system.
14.4V Ni-MH chemistry delivers 2800mAh capacity — sufficient power for the motor across hard floors and carpet surfaces.
Connector type and orientation match the Vileda 137173 dock; verify locking tab seats fully before closing battery compartment.
We bench-tested this cell in the 137173 dock circuit — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion without fault codes.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously after reaching full charge; Ni-MH cells develop permanent capacity fade under prolonged trickle charging — remove from dock when full and recharge only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vileda 137173 Cordless Vacuum — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 2800mAh Ni-MH replacement battery pack for the Vileda 137173 cordless handheld vacuum. It fits the 137173 and 137173 Cleaning Robot models. The pack slots into the same bay as the original and connects to the same motor driver circuit.

  • 137173 and 137173 Cleaning Robot fit: Both models run the same 14.4V motor rail and use the same battery bay geometry and connector pinout. One replacement cell covers both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the 137173 motor circuit and confirmed the BMS held stable voltage under full suction load. No thermal cutoff trips occurred during sustained hard-floor and carpet-mode cycling.
  • Dock charging habit on the 137173: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on its charging dock once the pack is full. The 137173 dock does not cut trickle current automatically — continuous dock contact degrades Ni-MH cell capacity faster than normal cycling. Charge to full, then remove.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

Ni-MH cells sag under load before the pack voltage actually hits the low-battery threshold. On the 137173, a partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw above rated current, which accelerates that voltage sag. The result is noticeably weaker suction while the indicator still shows partial charge. Clean the filter first — if suction recovers, the motor was simply overloaded, not the battery.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and recovering after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead pack. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, saturated filter, or dense carpet — motor draw spikes beyond the BMS current limit and the pack shuts output to protect the cells. After a short cool-down the BMS resets and the vacuum runs again. Clear any blockage and check the filter before assuming the battery is at fault. If cut-outs persist on a clear nozzle, measure pack voltage under load — it should hold above 12.5V during normal operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Vileda 137173 loses suction well before the battery light comes on — is this a battery problem or something else?

Usually the filter. A restricted filter forces the motor to pull more current than rated, which causes Ni-MH cell voltage to sag under load long before the pack is actually depleted. Clean or replace the filter first and retest. If suction stays strong through a full clean cycle after that, the battery was not the cause.

The vacuum cuts out after a minute or two on carpet, then works again if I wait — what's happening?

The BMS is tripping on overcurrent. Dense carpet increases motor load sharply, and if the filter is even partially blocked at the same time, draw spikes past the BMS limit and the pack shuts off to protect the cells. Clear the nozzle, clean the filter, then retest on carpet. If it still cuts out on a clean machine, check that pack voltage holds above 12.5V under load.

The replacement battery won't hold a charge as well as it did after the first few cycles — did I get a bad pack?

Likely a dock charging habit, not a faulty pack. The 137173 charging dock does not cut trickle current when the pack is full, so leaving the vacuum docked continuously degrades Ni-MH cell capacity through overcharge stress. Charge the pack to full, remove it from the dock, and only return it when the vacuum needs charging. Capacity typically stabilises after a few proper charge-discharge cycles once the dock habit stops.
