Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wiko Jimmy — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (S4300AE)
The S4300AE is a 3.7V, 1700mAh Li-ion cell that fits the Wiko Jimmy smartphone. It replaces the original battery when the existing cell can no longer hold adequate charge or causes unexpected shutdowns. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec exactly.
- Wiko Jimmy fit: The Jimmy uses a removable cell format with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake tied to the S4300AE part number. A cell with mismatched BMS signalling will cause the OS to reject the charge IC handshake or report a battery error on boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and charge sequences, confirming the BMS cutoff triggers correctly at low voltage and that the charge IC accepts the cell without fault flags during the first cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve before any high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.
Why the Wiko Jimmy shuts down suddenly at 20–30% after a cell swap
The Jimmy's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve calibrated to the old, degraded cell. When a new cell with a steeper voltage-capacity curve is installed, the IC underestimates remaining charge at mid-range percentages. Under modem or screen load, the new cell's terminal voltage drops faster than the IC predicts, tripping the low-voltage cutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. One full discharge-charge cycle without interruption resets the coulomb counter and realigns the IC to the new cell's curve.
Phone feels warm near the battery during first charge after replacement
A new Li-ion cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. During the first charge cycle, the charge IC applies its standard current profile against this elevated impedance, which generates more heat than normal until the cell conditions through one full cycle. This is expected behaviour and not a fault. If the phone remains warm past the second full charge cycle, check that the charge IC has not defaulted to a higher charge rate — drop to a 5V/1A charger and complete one more full cycle at that lower rate.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Wiko Jimmy won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few weeks — is the cell dead?
The BMS locks out the cell when voltage drops below roughly 2.5V per cell during storage, which protects the Li-ion chemistry but leaves the phone completely unresponsive. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release and allow a normal boot. If the charging indicator appears and then disappears repeatedly, leave it on charge for a full hour before attempting to power on.
The battery percentage on the Wiko Jimmy jumps around erratically — shows 60%, then suddenly 85%, then drops to 40%
This is the fuel gauge IC recalibrating its coulomb counter against the new cell's discharge curve after the old cell was removed. The IC loses its reference point when the cell is swapped and produces inaccurate readings until it completes at least one uninterrupted full discharge to around 5% and a full charge to 100%. Run that single complete cycle without unplugging early, and the percentage readings will stabilise. Do not top up repeatedly in short bursts during this first cycle — it prevents the IC from building an accurate capacity map.
Fast charging stopped working on the Wiko Jimmy after fitting the replacement battery — it only charges slowly now
On the first cycle with a new cell, the charge IC sometimes defaults to a conservative charge profile because the BMS handshake has not yet been confirmed against the new cell's impedance signature. This is a protective fallback, not a fault with the battery. Complete one full charge cycle at the slower rate using a standard 5V/1A charger. On the second cycle, reconnect your fast charger — the IC will have logged the cell's response data from the first cycle and should re-enable the higher charge rate automatically.
