Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TCL P520L / P518L Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TLp020JD)
This is a 3.7V, 2000mAh (7.4Wh) Li-ion cell that replaces part number TLp020JD in the TCL P520L, P518L, P5201, and P5181 smartphones. It matches the original voltage rail and physical footprint exactly. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.
- P520L / P518L platform fit: These four models share the same PCB layout, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one cell covers all of them. The 3.7V nominal rail and TLp020JD connector are consistent across the entire group.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge and charge sequence on a P520L unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge within one full cycle.
- First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle at low current gives it a clean reference before high-current charging begins.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When modem activity or screen brightness spikes current draw, the new cell's voltage drops briefly below the threshold the IC expects at that reported percentage. The phone interprets this as a critical low-voltage event and shuts down — even though actual capacity remains. One full discharge cycle down to automatic power-off, followed by a full charge, resets the coulomb counter and eliminates most of these shutoffs.
Device will not power on after sitting discharged in storage
If a Li-ion cell drops below approximately 2.5V during extended storage, the BMS enters a protection lockout and blocks normal charge current. Plugging in a charger produces no response — the phone appears completely dead. Connect the device to a wall adapter (not a PC USB port) and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS circuits on this platform accept a trickle pre-charge passively and will exit lockout once cell voltage climbs back above 2.9V, at which point a normal boot sequence becomes possible.

Frequently Asked Questions
My TCL P520L keeps shutting off at around 25% battery — why does this happen with a new cell?
The fuel gauge IC on the P520L was calibrated to the discharge curve of the old, worn cell. The new cell has a steeper voltage drop under load at low state-of-charge, so the IC hits a low-voltage cutoff threshold earlier than the displayed percentage suggests. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration mismatch. Run one full discharge to automatic power-off followed by a complete charge at standard (non-fast) charging speed to recalibrate the coulomb counter.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery in my P520L — what went wrong?
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes falls back to standard charging rate because it has not yet validated the new BMS. This is a handshake behaviour, not a hardware fault. Let the phone complete one full charge-discharge cycle at standard rate. After that cycle, fast charging negotiation typically resumes normally on the second charge.
The battery percentage on my P520L jumps around erratically — it went from 60% to 40% in seconds with no heavy use.
Erratic percentage jumps point to the fuel gauge IC recalculating state-of-charge against an unfamiliar cell chemistry profile. The IC uses a stored discharge model and the new cell does not yet match it. Charge the phone to 100% until the charger stops, then use it normally until it powers off on its own — do not top it up mid-cycle. After that one uninterrupted full cycle, the IC locks onto the new cell's curve and percentage readings stabilise.
