Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Wiko Sunset Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SUNSET)
This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell for the Wiko Sunset, Sunset neuwertig, and Sunset 2 smartphones. It replaces the original battery when the cell no longer holds a useful charge across a full day. Capacity is 4.44Wh, matching the stock specification.
- Sunset and Sunset 2 compatibility: Both handsets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V nominal voltage rail. The BMS handshake uses the same thermistor line, so one cell fits either board without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the Sunset platform. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and the charge IC hit the expected 4.2V cutoff on the first cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. This gives the fuel gauge IC one full reference cycle against the new cell's actual discharge curve before it starts reporting percentages.
Why the Wiko Sunset reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC on the Sunset stores a discharge curve model calibrated to the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored model no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The IC reads a voltage point on the curve and maps it to a percentage that was accurate for the old, degraded cell — not the fresh one. One full discharge-to-shutoff and uninterrupted charge cycle forces the IC to relearn the curve against the actual cell chemistry.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the modem radio or display ramps current draw and the cell voltage drops sharply below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V under load. The fuel gauge may still show 20–30% because it hasn't recalibrated, but the actual cell voltage collapses faster than the IC predicts. Run one full recalibration cycle first. If shutdowns continue after calibration, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose pin increases internal resistance and accelerates the voltage sag under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Wiko Sunset powers on but shuts off randomly when I open the camera or make a call — why does this keep happening with the new battery?
The camera and modem pull a sharp current spike that drops cell voltage fast. If the fuel gauge IC hasn't recalibrated to the new cell yet, the BMS hits its 3.0V cutoff before the percentage display reaches zero. Run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge straight to 100% without interruption — that single cycle recalibrates the IC against the new discharge curve and the shutoffs typically stop.
The Wiko Sunset won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?
A cell stored below roughly 2.5V triggers BMS lockout to prevent damage — the board simply refuses to power on. Connect the phone to a wall charger and leave it for 30–45 minutes without pressing the power button. Most BMS firmware on this platform will trickle charge a locked-out cell back above the recovery threshold and then resume normal charging. If the charge LED doesn't appear within an hour, try a different cable and charger before assuming the cell is failed.
After fitting the new battery the phone feels warm near the battery cover during charging — is that normal?
A fresh high-impedance cell produces more heat during the first few charge cycles than a conditioned cell does. The charge IC has to work against slightly higher internal resistance until the cell is broken in. This is normal for the first two or three cycles and should reduce noticeably after that. If the phone stays hot well into subsequent cycles or the back becomes uncomfortable to touch, check that the battery contacts are clean and the connector is fully pressed down — a poor connection increases resistance further and raises heat.
