Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S — 3.87V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BN5D)
This 3.87V, 4900mAh (18.96Wh) lithium-polymer cell replaces the BN5D battery in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11S, Redmi Note 11S 5G, and 22031116BG variants. It restores full device function after the original cell has degraded or failed to hold charge. Capacity figures are taken directly from the OEM specification.
- Redmi Note 11S and 11S 5G compatibility: Both variants use the same BN5D cell footprint, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The 87.20 × 63.30 × 5.20mm cell dimensions match the chassis cavity on both boards, and the fuel gauge IC communicates over the same data line in both configurations.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Redmi Note 11S unit. The BMS accepted the charge IC handshake without error flags, and the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge correctly after one full calibration cycle.
- First-cycle fuel gauge reset: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This gives the fuel gauge IC time to map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
A new cell has a discharge curve the fuel gauge IC has never seen. When the screen or modem draws a high current spike, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the OS still shows charge remaining. The BMS interprets the voltage sag as an empty cell and shuts the device down. One full discharge-to-zero followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% recalibrates the coulomb counter and eliminates most of these premature shutdowns.
USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement
Xiaomi's proprietary fast charge protocol requires the charge IC to verify BMS state before unlocking high-current delivery. On a new cell with no charge history, the BMS may respond with a conservative state that causes the charge IC to fall back to standard 5V charging. This is not a fault — it resolves after the first full cycle. If fast charge still does not activate after the second cycle, check the USB-C port for debris and verify the cable supports the required current rating.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Redmi Note 11S shuts off at around 25% after I put the new battery in — is the cell faulty?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it cannot accurately predict when the new cell will hit the BMS cutoff voltage under load. Run one full discharge — let the phone shut itself off naturally — then charge it to 100% without interruption. That single cycle gives the coulomb counter the data it needs to track state-of-charge accurately on the new cell.
The battery percentage on my Redmi Note 11S jumps around erratically after replacing the BN5D — sometimes it gains 5% when I unplug the charger.
Erratic percentage readings are a fuel gauge IC recalibration problem, not a cell defect. The IC's stored charge model no longer matches the actual cell chemistry after a swap. Let the phone discharge fully until it powers off on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — do not use the phone during this cycle. After two or three cycles the IC recalculates its reference points and the percentage display stabilises.
The phone won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it.
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if this cell dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell the BMS will have entered a lockout state to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle current into the cell and bring voltage back above the BMS recovery threshold. If the charging indicator still does not appear after 30 minutes, try a different cable and a wall adapter rated at least 1A.
