A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated to maintain airflow. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery was compensating for airflow restriction, not failing.

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failed motor. When suction is restricted — by a blocked filter, tangled brush roll, or dense carpet pile — sustained current draw exceeds the BMS protection threshold and it disconnects the cell. The vacuum goes silent, then restarts after the BMS resets. Clear the blockage, spin the brush roll by hand to confirm it turns freely, and check that the filter is clean. If the cutout continues after clearing restrictions, measure the resting cell voltage — a degraded cell sagging below 12V under light load needs replacement.
