Fits ZTE C88, C78, C70, E520 and five additional models; replaces OEM part Li3708T42P3h553447 or Li3707T42P3h553447.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 800mAh delivers 2.96Wh — sufficient for a full day on moderate use.
Battery slides into the rear compartment with a flat connector; no locking tab, seats flush against the housing.
We bench-tested this cell in a C88 unit; the BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held 3.7V under moderate load draw.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle to let the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZTE C88 / C78 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Li3708T42P3h553447)

This is a 3.7V, 800mAh (2.96Wh) Li-ion cell for the ZTE C88, C78, C70, E520, and compatible models. It replaces OEM part numbers Li3708T42P3h553447 and Li3707T42P3h553447. If your original cell has degraded or no longer holds a charge, this is the direct swap.

  • C88 / C78 / C70 / E520 platform fitment: These models share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. The BMS handshake protocol and voltage rail are identical across this ZTE budget-tier platform, so one cell covers all listed models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge and discharge cycle on the C88. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V. No thermal events were observed during the charge cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before any high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Why the C88 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the C88 stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the actual cell chemistry and impedance. The phone reads voltage and maps it to the old curve, producing percentage figures that don't reflect real capacity. One full discharge down to auto-shutoff, followed by a full charge to 100%, forces the IC to reset its coulomb counter and re-anchor the curve to the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — typically during screen-on or a data burst — faster than the fuel gauge predicted. The BMS trips the protection circuit before the display percentage reaches zero. It's a voltage cliff, not a capacity fault. Let the phone shut down naturally, charge it fully to 4.2V, then run one uninterrupted discharge cycle without charging partway through.

Frequently Asked Questions

My ZTE C88 powers off at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is the cell faulty?

It's not a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC is still running the discharge curve from your old battery, so it misjudges the voltage cliff on the new cell and trips the BMS before the display hits zero. Run one full discharge to auto-shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle resets the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual voltage curve.

The new battery isn't triggering fast charge — the phone just charges slowly every time

On the first cycle after a cell swap, some ZTE devices won't negotiate the fast-charge protocol until the BMS has completed one full charge handshake at standard rate. Plug into your original ZTE charger, let it charge to 100% without interrupting it, then unplug and try again. If fast charge still doesn't activate after that cycle, check the USB port for debris and confirm the charger output is at least 5V/2A.

My C88 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in the drawer for months before I installed it

A cell stored uncharged for an extended period can drop below the BMS lockout threshold of around 2.5V. The protection circuit blocks current to prevent damage, so the phone shows no response. Connect it to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — many ZTE BMS units will trickle-charge the cell back above the lockout voltage before allowing a normal boot. If the screen shows a charging indicator at any point, the cell has recovered.
