Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

ZTE Grand S / Z753 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (Li3817T43P3h724940)
This 3.8V, 1750mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original battery in the ZTE Grand S, Grand S LTE, Z753, and Athena. It uses OEM part number Li3817T43P3h724940 and fits the same connector and battery bay without modification. Capacity is 6.65Wh — matching the stock cell's energy spec.
- Grand S / Z753 platform compatibility: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the Grand S line. The 72.02 × 47.58 × 4.04mm cell fits the cavity without pressure on the display flex cable.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Grand S unit. The BMS accepted the charge handshake without fault codes, and the protection circuit triggered correctly at low-voltage cutoff — no thermal event, no overcharge pass-through.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-charge cycle at standard current. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Grand S after a cell swap
The Grand S uses a coulomb-counter fuel gauge IC that was calibrated against the old cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve causes the IC to misjudge the remaining charge. When the modem fires during a call or the display hits peak brightness, current draw spikes and the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the OS still shows charge remaining. Run one full discharge to 0% and a complete charge to 100% without interruption. The IC recalibrates its curve endpoint and the shutdowns stop.
OS reporting wrong battery percentage after replacement
After swapping in a new cell, the Grand S fuel gauge IC still holds the learned capacity data from the old degraded battery. It will show inflated or erratic percentages — often jumping 5–10% in either direction — because the reference points no longer match the new cell's actual voltage curve. The fix is a full calibration cycle: drain the phone until it shuts off automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with the screen off. After one complete cycle, the coulomb counter resets its endpoints to the new cell and percentage readings stabilise.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Grand S won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?
The Li-Polymer cell has likely dropped below 2.5V from self-discharge during storage, triggering BMS lockout to prevent cell damage. The phone won't respond to the power button in this state. Connect it to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the BMS recovers, the charge IC will trickle-charge the cell back above the lockout threshold and the phone will boot normally.
Fast charging stopped working on the first charge after I installed the replacement battery — what happened?
On the first cycle with a new cell, the Grand S charge IC runs a verification pass before enabling high-current charge mode. Some replacement cells present a slightly higher initial impedance, which causes the controller to fall back to standard 5V charging rather than triggering the faster charge profile. Run the first full cycle at standard charge — plug into a basic 5V adapter, not a fast-charge brick. Once the cell has completed one full cycle, the charge IC re-evaluates impedance and typically re-enables the faster charge rate on the second cycle.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery area during the first few charges after replacement — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates more energy as heat during the first few charge sessions. This is expected and reduces after 3–5 full cycles as the cell's impedance drops. Watch that the phone stays warm — not hot — and that warmth is concentrated at the rear centre near the battery, not at the USB port. If the port area gets hot or charging stops before 100%, check the connector seating; a mis-seated cell connector raises resistance at the contact point and causes the charge IC to fault.
