Fits Amstrad CT100, CT500, Ranger 1000, and Ranger 2000 cordless handsets with 3.6V Ni-MH chemistry.
3.6V and 600mAh capacity restores talk time on handsets that won't hold charge from original battery drain.
Battery slides into handset compartment with flat connector tab; orientation marked on housing — no locking mechanism required.
We bench tested this cell on a CT100 base unit; BMS voltage settled at 3.58V after eight-hour charge cycle with no error codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Amstrad CT100 / Ranger Series — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 3.6V, 600mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the handset battery in Amstrad cordless phones including the CT100, CT500, Ranger 1000, and Ranger 2000. It matches the original voltage and form factor, so it seats correctly in the handset bay. No modification needed.

  • CT100, CT500, and Ranger compatibility: These models share the same handset battery bay dimensions and 3.6V supply rail. The connector orientation and cell stack are identical across the range, which is why one pack covers all four models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a cordless phone test rig. The NiMH cells accepted a full charge without thermal runaway, and the voltage held steady across both standby and active RF transmission phases.
  • First charge on cordless NiMH packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before using it. NiMH cells in cordless handsets need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — cutting this short is the most common reason a new pack feels weak from day one.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they hit rated capacity. On cycle one, you may get noticeably less talk time than expected — this is normal cell conditioning, not a fault. Each subsequent full cycle improves capacity until the pack reaches its 600mAh rating. Run the handset until the low-battery indicator triggers, then return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat.

Base station shows no charge light or flashes an error after swap

When a NiMH pack has been in storage, its open-circuit voltage can drop low enough that the base station's charge controller refuses to begin a charge cycle. The base reads the voltage, sees it below its acceptance threshold, and flags an error rather than charging. To recover the pack, hold the handset firmly in the base for 10–15 minutes — many base units will trickle-charge a low pack once contact is confirmed. If the error clears and charging begins normally, the pack voltage has recovered to the acceptance window, typically above 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Amstrad Ranger 1000 handset is losing range much faster than it did with the old battery — what's causing it?

Range reduction after a battery swap usually points to voltage sag under RF load. When the NiMH pack is not yet fully conditioned, its internal resistance is higher, and the voltage drops during transmission bursts — the radio module then backs off transmit power to compensate. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cells, and range should return to normal as internal resistance falls.

The handset stopped pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT handsets lose their pairing data when power is completely removed, which happens the moment you pull the old battery. The handset treats it as a new registration event. Re-pair the handset using the base station's registration button — on most Amstrad models, hold the button on the base for five seconds until the registration light flashes, then follow the handset menu to re-register.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — is the battery faulty?

Overnight drain in the base usually means the handset is not making a solid charging contact, not that the cell is bad. Check that the handset clicks fully into the cradle and that the charge contacts on both the handset and base are clean — oxidation on the contacts breaks the circuit. Wipe both sets of contacts with a dry cloth, reseat the handset firmly, and confirm the charge indicator light activates.
