Fits Euro Pro UV617, UV617R, UV647H, UV647HB cordless vacuum; replaces OEM XB617UN.
8.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers full motor voltage for floor and furniture cleaning cycles.
Snap connector seats vertically into the handheld motor housing with single-tab lock engagement.
We bench-tested this cell in UV617 motor load; BMS held steady at 8.4V under sustained suction draw with no early cutoff.
Do not leave the vacuum on the charging dock permanently — cordless vacuums on continuous dock charge develop capacity fade significantly faster than those charged only when depleted.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Euro Pro UV617 Series — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (XB617UN)

This is an 8.4V, 3000mAh Ni-MH battery pack built to replace the XB617UN in the Euro Pro UV617 cordless handheld vacuum. It fits the UV617, UV617R, UV647H, and UV647HB. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a charge and the vacuum loses suction well before the job is done.

  • UV617 and UV647 series compatibility: These models share the same 8.4V Ni-MH battery bay, connector pinout, and charging circuit. One cell covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the UV617 charging cycle and confirmed the BMS accepted charge without fault flags. Discharge held steady voltage across multiple full cycles with no mid-cycle dropout.
  • Dock charging on the UV617: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the charging dock after the pack reaches full charge. Ni-MH cells in cordless vacuums suffer capacity fade faster from continuous trickle charge than from regular use cycles. Charge to full, then pull it off the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low on the UV617

Ni-MH cells in high-draw appliances like handheld vacuums show terminal voltage sag under motor load before the indicator circuit registers a low-battery condition. The UV617 motor draws peak current under restricted airflow — a partially clogged filter makes this worse. The result is reduced suction that looks like a weak battery but is actually a voltage sag event. Clean the filter first, then check resting pack voltage — a healthy 8.4V Ni-MH should read at or above 8.0V off charge.

Motor cuts out mid-use then recovers after a short pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is blocked or the filter is restricted, the UV617 motor pulls sustained high current, and the protection circuit shuts the cell down to prevent damage. A short pause resets the trip and power returns. The fix is not a new battery — clear the blockage and clean or replace the filter. If cut-outs continue on a clean filter with a new pack, check that the motor brushes are not worn.

Frequently Asked Questions

My UV617 loses suction halfway through cleaning but the battery light isn't on — what's happening?

This is voltage sag, not a failed battery. The UV617 motor pulls high current under load, and a restricted filter forces it to work even harder, dragging cell voltage below the threshold needed for full suction before the indicator trips. Check and clean the filter first — that alone often resolves it. If sag continues on a clean filter, measure resting pack voltage; a healthy 8.4V Ni-MH should read at least 8.0V after a full charge.

The UV617 motor shuts off suddenly during use and then works again after I wait a minute — is the battery faulty?

That is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a cell failure. Sustained restricted airflow — usually a blocked nozzle or a clogged filter — pushes motor current above the protection threshold, and the BMS cuts output to prevent cell damage. The pause allows the circuit to reset. Clear any blockage, clean the filter, and run the vacuum again; the cut-outs should stop. If they continue with a clean filter and a new pack, the motor brushes need inspection.

My replacement XB617UN battery fades noticeably faster than the original did when it was new — what causes that?

Ni-MH cells degrade quickly when left on the charging dock continuously. The UV617 dock delivers a trickle charge that keeps the pack topped up, but sustained trickle charge is one of the fastest ways to reduce Ni-MH capacity over time. Charge the battery to full, remove the vacuum from the dock, and only return it when the pack needs charging again. Following this pattern from the first cycle preserves capacity significantly longer than permanent dock storage.
