Fits Leading Edge DX266 programmable logic controller as OEM backup battery replacement.
3.6V, 2700mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell maintains SRAM memory and real-time clock during power loss.
Cylindrical AA format with solder tabs; orientation marked on controller circuit board near battery slot.
We bench-tested this cell on DX266 hardware; BMS float charge stabilized voltage within two hours of installation.
Always swap this battery with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode—removing it while powered off causes permanent SRAM data loss requiring full program reload from your programming device.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Leading Edge DX266 — 3.6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This 3.6V, 2700mAh lithium manganese dioxide cell replaces the backup battery in the Leading Edge DX266 programmable logic controller. It sustains SRAM program memory and the real-time clock during mains power interruptions. Without a functional cell, the DX266 loses retained data every time supply voltage drops.

  • DX266 backup power rail: The DX266 uses a dedicated low-current battery rail to hold SRAM and RTC state independently of the main 24V supply. This cell matches the voltage window that rail expects — too low and memory retention fails before a fault alarm even triggers.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the DX266 backup circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell without a false low-battery flag on initial insertion. Open-circuit voltage measured 3.6V at dispatch.
  • Hot-swap is mandatory on the DX266: Always replace this battery with the controller powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the PLC is off clears SRAM instantly — program data is gone and must be reloaded from a programming device before the controller will run again.

PLC battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation

On the DX266, a battery alarm flag is written to a status register when the cell voltage drops below threshold. Fitting a new cell does not automatically clear that register — the controller holds the fault until software acknowledges it. Connect a programming device, navigate to the system diagnostics or status word, and manually reset the battery fault bit. The alarm will not self-clear on power cycle alone.

Clock showing wrong date and time after battery replacement

The real-time clock on the DX266 draws from the same backup cell as SRAM. If the swap was done with the PLC powered off — even briefly — the RTC loses its count and resets to a default timestamp. The controller will run, but any time-stamped logs or scheduled program routines will be off. Reconnect a programming device, open the RTC configuration, and write the correct date and time directly to the clock register.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DX266 lost its program after I swapped the battery — how do I get it running again?

The program was held in SRAM, and SRAM needs continuous battery voltage to retain data. Removing the cell while the PLC was powered off — even for a few seconds — wiped it. The controller cannot recover the program on its own. Connect your programming device, reload the last saved project file, and verify the DX266 returns to RUN mode before closing the session.

The new cell reads lower than 3.6V on my multimeter — is it faulty?

Li-MnO2 cells ship at storage voltage, which typically sits 0.1–0.2V below the rated figure. Once installed, the DX266 backup circuit applies a small float charge and the voltage rises to full rated level within a few hours. If the reading is still below 3.4V after 24 hours on an energised controller, check the battery contact pins on the DX266 for corrosion and reseat the cell.

The battery in our DX266 keeps depleting faster than the rated service life — what causes that?

Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C above 25°C. If the DX266 sits inside a warm control panel enclosure running near or above 35°C, expect the cell to deplete significantly faster between maintenance cycles. Check the panel's internal ambient temperature with a probe thermometer. If it's consistently above 30°C, shorten your battery inspection interval accordingly and ensure the enclosure ventilation is unobstructed.
