Replaces Airis N509 and T605 pocket PC batteries; original pack degrades after 300–500 charge cycles.
3.7V, 1300mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 4.81Wh to the N509's processor, RAM, and wireless radio during portable use.
Connector is a two-pin flat contact; battery slides into the rear compartment with the contact edge forward and locks flush.
We bench-tested this cell in an N509 with the stock charger; BMS accepted voltage ramp cleanly and held 3.65V at rest.
Sync all open documents and contact records to your host computer before removing the old battery—the N509 stores active files in RAM, and full power loss erases unsaved data.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Airis N509 / T605 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1300mAh Li-ion cell restores power to the Airis N509 and T605 handheld PDAs. These mid-2000s pocket PCs rely on a single-cell Li-ion pack to run applications, hold contacts, and keep RAM-resident data alive between sessions. Capacity figures are taken directly from the product specification — 4.81Wh total energy.

  • N509 and T605 shared platform: Both handhelds draw from the same 3.7V single-cell architecture and use the same physical footprint — 50.00 × 35.90 × 8.50mm. The BMS threshold and connector pinout match across both models, so one cell covers either unit without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled the cell through charge and discharge on the bench and confirmed the protection circuit trips correctly at undervoltage. The BMS re-engaged cleanly on reconnect without requiring an external reset.
  • RAM power before removal: Sync all open data to the host PC before pulling the old battery. The N509 stores active application state and unsaved contacts in SRAM powered directly by the main cell — a full power removal without syncing first will erase that data permanently.

Why the N509 loses data after a battery swap

The N509 uses SRAM for active storage — no flash buffer holds open application data between power cycles. The moment the battery voltage drops to zero, that memory clears. A backup battery or capacitor on these older PDAs is either absent or too small to hold state through a full swap. The only reliable fix is a full ActiveSync or WMDC sync to the host machine before removing the cell.

N509 stuck on blank screen after new battery install

A freshly shipped Li-ion cell may sit at 3.0V or below after storage — below the N509's minimum boot threshold. The device will not complete its boot sequence at that voltage and shows a blank or unresponsive screen. Connect to the OEM charger and let the cell reach at least 3.6V before attempting to power on. Once charging is confirmed by the charge LED, a full charge cycle before first boot prevents a repeat of the same symptom.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Airis N509 wiped my contacts and calendar when I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes, and it happens because the N509 stores active data in SRAM, which loses its contents the instant battery voltage hits zero. There is no onboard flash buffer saving open application state during a swap. Before pulling the cell next time, run a full ActiveSync or WMDC sync to your PC — that copies RAM-resident data to persistent storage on the host. Once synced, the swap is safe and a restore brings everything back.

The N509 won't boot after fitting the new battery — screen stays blank or flickers once and dies.

A new cell shipped in storage can arrive below 3.0V, which is under the minimum the N509 needs to complete its boot sequence. The device won't initialise the OS at that voltage — it just stalls or shows nothing. Plug into the charger first and leave it until the charge indicator shows activity, then wait for a full charge before powering on. Boot once the cell reaches 3.7V and the issue won't repeat.

Battery life on the N509 seems much shorter than expected — drains faster than the old one did when it was new.

Shallow cycling is the main culprit on PDA devices used in short bursts — repeated top-ups without full discharge cycles cause lithium cells to lose calibrated capacity over time. The wireless sync radio and backlight also draw significantly more current than standby figures suggest, compressing usable time per charge. Let the cell discharge to around 3.3V under normal use, then charge fully — doing this a few times recalibrates the BMS capacity reading. If drain remains steep after three full cycles, check whether wireless or Bluetooth is left active between sessions.
