Fits Mio PDA 255 and PXA 255 handhelds, replacing the original 3.7V lithium-ion cell.
Delivers 3.7V at 1300mAh capacity, restoring full power to your Pocket PC for scheduling and field applications.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is marked on the device.
We bench-tested this cell in a PDA 255 unit — BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no handshake errors.
Sync all open files and calendar data to your host computer before removing the old battery; PDA RAM loses power immediately and stored application state will not recover.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BlueMedia PDA 255 / PXA 255 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 1300mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the BlueMedia PDA 255 and PXA 255 handheld personal digital assistants. It fits the pocket PC form factor used for mobile computing, scheduling, and navigation. Swap it in to restore full operation on a device where the original cell has degraded or failed.

  • PDA 255 and PXA 255 platform: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V voltage rail, and connector pinout — one cell covers the pair. The BMS handshake is identical across both variants, so the charge circuit accepts this replacement without reconfiguration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a PDA 255 unit. The BMS accepted full charge without fault codes, and the device booted cleanly from a cold start at the first attempt.
  • RAM data protection before swap: The PDA 255 holds open files, contacts, and application state in SRAM powered directly by the main battery. Sync all data to the host PC before removing the old cell — cutting power without syncing will wipe anything not written to flash storage.

Why the PDA 255 refuses to boot after a new battery is fitted

The PDA 255 boot sequence checks for a minimum voltage threshold before the processor initialises. A new cell shipped in storage state may sit below that threshold, even though the battery is not faulty. The device will show nothing on screen or loop on the splash screen until the cell reaches sufficient charge. Connect the PDA to its charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting the first power-on.

Battery life noticeably shorter when using wireless sync or GPS

The wireless radio and GPS receiver on the PDA 255 draw significantly more current than standby or basic scheduling tasks. This voltage sag under radio load can trigger the BMS to report a lower state of charge than the cell actually holds. If battery life drops sharply during active sync sessions, verify the cell is at full charge before starting a wireless transfer, and close background applications to reduce concurrent draw on the 3.7V rail.

Frequently Asked Questions

I just put in the new battery and my PDA 255 won't turn on at all — blank screen

New Li-ion cells ship in a low storage-state charge, often below the minimum voltage the PDA 255 boot sequence requires to initialise the processor. Connect the device to its charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. We saw the same blank-screen behaviour on the bench — it cleared after a short charge cycle. If the screen stays blank past 45 minutes on charge, check that the charger connector is seating fully in the dock port.

My PDA 255 lost all my contacts and calendar entries after the battery swap — is the data gone?

Yes, that data was in SRAM, which the PDA 255 powers directly from the main battery. The moment the old cell was removed and voltage dropped to zero, anything held in RAM — contacts, open appointments, unsaved notes — was erased. Data written to internal flash storage survives a full power loss. Before any future battery swap, perform a full ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center sync to the host PC to push RAM-resident data to flash or to the connected computer.

The PDA 255 battery drains much faster during a wireless sync session than during normal use

The 802.11 or Bluetooth radio on the PDA 255 draws significantly more current than idle or basic PIM tasks, causing visible voltage sag on the 3.7V rail during active transmission. The BMS can read that sag as a lower state of charge than the cell actually holds, which makes the charge indicator drop faster than real capacity warrants. Close any background applications running during the sync to reduce concurrent draw. Start the sync session with the cell at a full 4.2V charge to keep the voltage above the point where the BMS begins scaling back radio power.
