Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Alcatel OT-995 / OT-995 Ultra — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (TLIB5AA)
This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell replacing part numbers TLIB5AA, CAB31Y0006C1, CAB31Y0002C1, BY75, CAB150000SC1, and TliB5AD. It fits the Alcatel OT-995, OT-995 Ultra, One Touch 995, and OT-993D. The cell measures 64.60 × 43.95 × 5.10mm — physically identical to the factory cell on these models.
- OT-995 and OT-993D platform: These models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers the entire group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the OT-995 charge IC and confirmed the BMS reported state-of-charge correctly by the second full cycle. Charge termination tripped at the correct cutoff voltage with no overcharge event.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before it reports percentages to the OS — skipping this step causes erratic percentage readings for several days.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the OT-995 after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. The fuel gauge IC is still referencing the discharge curve of the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a load spike — modem transmitting or screen at full brightness — the IC misreads remaining capacity and the BMS drops output before the cell is actually depleted. Running two full discharge-charge cycles forces the coulomb counter to recalibrate against the new cell's actual voltage slope. After recalibration, shutdowns at false-low percentages stop.
OT-995 not powering on after the replacement cell sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell voltage dropped below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters lockout mode to prevent a damaged charge cycle. The phone will show no response — no boot, no charge indicator. Connect the phone to a wall adapter rather than a PC USB port, which delivers insufficient current to wake the BMS. Leave it connected for 15–20 minutes before attempting to power on; the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it clears the BMS lockout threshold, typically around 3.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does my Alcatel OT-995 percentage jump around after I put in the new battery?
The fuel gauge IC inside the OT-995 builds its percentage readings from a discharge curve calibrated to the old cell. A new cell has a different voltage slope, so the coulomb counter misreads remaining charge and the displayed percentage skips around. Run one full discharge — use the phone until it shuts off on its own — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that single cycle the fuel gauge recalibrates and the jumping stops.
The OT-995 gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges with the new cell — is something wrong?
This is expected behaviour on the first few charge cycles. A new cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC has to push against more resistance, which generates heat at the battery. Warmth during charging typically drops off after three to five cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone is hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold after the fifth cycle, check that the back cover is seated fully — a gap traps heat against the battery compartment.
My OT-995 shuts down the moment I make a call, even when the battery shows 40% or more.
A voice call triggers the modem at full transmit power — this is one of the highest instantaneous current draws the OT-995 produces. If the replacement cell's voltage sags under that load, the BMS interprets it as a low-cell event and cuts output immediately. The root cause is usually an uncalibrated fuel gauge reading a falsely high percentage. Run two complete discharge-charge cycles to let the coulomb counter align with the new cell's actual voltage curve, then retest. If shutdowns continue past cycle two, confirm the cell voltage at rest is sitting above 3.7V with a multimeter before the call.
