Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

American DJ WIFLY BAR RGBA — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (Z-WIB233)
This is an 11.1V, 15600mAh Li-ion battery pack built to replace the original Z-WIB233 unit in the American DJ WIFLY BAR RGBA wireless LED light bar. The WIFLY BAR RGBA runs on battery during cordless stage, event, and studio operation, and this replacement restores that capability when the original cell degrades. Voltage and capacity match the factory spec exactly.
- WIFLY BAR RGBA platform fit: The WIFLY BAR RGBA uses a specific 11.1V three-cell Li-ion pack with a BMS that communicates pack state to the fixture's LED driver. A mismatch in cell count or voltage rail causes the driver to reject the battery or trip a protection fault on power-up.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full charge and load discharge on the WIFLY BAR RGBA platform. The BMS held stable across the LED driver's constant-current draw, and the protection circuit responded correctly to both over-discharge cutoff and charge termination.
- Storage charge for wireless fixtures: If the WIFLY BAR RGBA is going into storage for more than two weeks, bring the pack down to around 50% charge before storing. Holding a 15600mAh high-capacity Li-ion pack at full charge in a warm venue case accelerates cell degradation faster than regular use cycles will.
Why the WIFLY BAR RGBA dims before the battery indicator hits low
The LED driver in the WIFLY BAR RGBA operates in constant-current mode, pulling a fixed current regardless of pack voltage. As cell voltage sags under sustained load — especially at full RGBA output — the pack voltage drops faster than the indicator circuit tracks. The indicator reads state-of-charge from a voltage curve calibrated for a healthy cell, so a degraded pack will sag into the driver's undervoltage threshold before the LED indicator registers low. If the fixture dims or steps down while the indicator still shows two or more bars, the pack cells have lost capacity and can no longer sustain the voltage rail under full draw.
Battery not recognised after extended storage in the WIFLY BAR RGBA
A Li-ion pack left discharged for several months can drop below the BMS acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell, or 7.5V for a 3S pack. When the WIFLY BAR RGBA's driver polls the battery on power-up and reads a voltage below that floor, it rejects the pack and the fixture won't initialise. To recover the pack, connect it to a Li-ion charger that supports a recovery or "trickle" mode, which applies a low pre-charge current to bring each cell above the threshold before entering normal CC/CV charging. Once the pack reaches approximately 9V total, a standard charge cycle should complete normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The WIFLY BAR RGBA dims to a lower output level mid-show even though the battery indicator still shows plenty of charge — what's causing that?
The LED driver runs in constant-current mode, so it pulls the same current at full RGBA output regardless of pack voltage. When cell capacity has degraded, pack voltage sags below the driver's operating threshold before the indicator registers low — the indicator reads a voltage curve, not real-time cell health. The fixture interprets the voltage drop as an undervoltage condition and steps the driver down to protect the cells. Replace the pack and confirm the new battery holds above 10.5V under full RGBA load.
After swapping in the new battery, the WIFLY BAR RGBA shows an error code and won't power on — is the battery faulty?
This is a firmware battery-check fault, not a faulty pack. The fixture's LED driver polls the battery on startup and sometimes flags a mismatch if it doesn't complete the handshake in time — especially on a freshly installed pack. Power the fixture completely off, wait 10 seconds, then power back on. If the error clears, the driver has completed its initialisation correctly; if it persists, confirm the battery connector is fully seated and repeat the power cycle.
The replacement battery charges fully but the WIFLY BAR RGBA cuts out at high output much sooner than expected at maximum brightness — why?
At full RGBA output all four colour channels draw simultaneously, and total current demand is significantly higher than at partial output. A 15600mAh pack delivers that rated capacity at a moderate discharge rate; sustained high-current draw from the constant-current driver pulls the pack down the voltage curve faster than the capacity figure suggests. This is normal behaviour for high-capacity Li-ion packs under peak LED load — it is not a defective battery. Run the fixture at 80–90% output to reduce current draw and extend the usable period between charges.
