This 3.7V, 700mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Solar LED Light SL-24000 fixture. It stores energy from the solar panel during daylight and delivers it to the LED driver at night. Also cross-references part numbers 24-800-006 and PLB-24-800-006.
- SL-24000 compatibility: The SL-24000 uses a low-voltage LED driver circuit matched to a single-cell 3.7V LiPo. Voltage, connector, and cell dimensions (49.20 × 30.00 × 4.90mm) all have to match — this cell meets all three. Substituting a different cell size can physically stress the housing and confuse the driver.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through solar-simulated charge and discharge on the SL-24000 circuit. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and accepted charge without triggering overcharge protection on either a full-sun or partial-sun input profile.
- First-cycle brightness calibration: Run the light on medium brightness for the first full charge-discharge cycle. This lets the LED driver calibrate current output against the new cell before you push it to maximum brightness operation.
Why the SL-24000 dims before the low-battery indicator activates
The LED driver in the SL-24000 begins stepping down current output before cell voltage reaches the BMS trip threshold — typically around 3.4V versus the 3.0V hard cutoff. This is a deliberate driver behaviour, not a fault with the battery. You will see visible dimming first, then the low-battery indicator, then shutdown in that sequence. Replacing the battery restores full brightness from the start of each cycle; the dimming sequence itself will still occur as cell voltage drops near end of discharge.
Light runs warm in the housing during extended use at full brightness
At maximum brightness, the LED and the discharging LiPo cell both generate heat inside a compact, enclosed housing. The SL-24000 housing has minimal airflow, so heat accumulates faster than it dissipates. If the housing feels hot to the touch during extended full-brightness operation, drop to medium brightness — this reduces both LED heat output and discharge current through the cell simultaneously. Sustained high temperatures shorten LiPo cycle life, so managing brightness is the most direct way to extend battery service life in this fixture.

My SL-24000 isn't reaching full brightness even after a complete charge — is the new battery faulty?
Not necessarily. If the cell voltage is below roughly 3.6V when you first install it, the LED driver won't receive enough input to hit full brightness output. Charge the light in direct sunlight for a full day before the first use. If full brightness still doesn't return after a complete charge cycle, check that the solar panel contacts are clean and making solid connection — a dirty panel delivers reduced charge current and the cell never reaches its top voltage.
The SL-24000 runs for a much shorter time at full brightness than at medium — is something wrong with the battery?
Nothing is wrong. The LED driver draws roughly three to four times more current at maximum brightness than at 50% brightness, so the 700mAh cell depletes significantly faster under full load. This is normal LiPo behaviour under high draw. If short runtime at full brightness is a problem, medium brightness is the practical fix — it cuts draw sharply while keeping useful light output.
After replacing the battery, the SL-24000 won't turn on at all — what's the issue?
A brand-new LiPo cell can arrive at a low resting voltage that falls below the LED driver's minimum input threshold, which means the light won't activate. Place the fixture in direct sunlight for several hours before attempting to switch it on. If the light still won't activate after a full solar charge, confirm the replacement cell's connector is fully seated — a partially connected cell reads as no battery to the driver circuit.
