Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Archos 40b Titanium — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AC40bTI)
This is a 3.7V Li-ion cell rated at 1250mAh (4.63Wh), built to the AC40bTI specification. It fits the Archos 40b Titanium and 40b Titanium Surround smartphones. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.
- 40b Titanium and Titanium Surround compatibility: Both variants share the same battery bay dimensions and connector pinout. The 61.51 × 50.07 × 4.40mm cell fits the housing without modification, and the BMS communicates over the same three-pin interface used across the Titanium line.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on the 40b Titanium hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering a protection fault, and charge current stepped down correctly at the CV transition.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: After installation, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-charge cycle before normal use. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.
Why the 40b Titanium reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The fuel gauge IC on the 40b Titanium stores a discharge curve profile for the original cell. When a new cell goes in, that stored profile no longer matches the actual cell chemistry, so the percentage readout drifts. The IC uses a coulomb counter that resets its reference points only after seeing a full discharge and full charge. One complete slow cycle — no fast charge — corrects the calibration and stabilises the percentage display.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens because the modem and display draw a combined current spike the cell cannot sustain at low state-of-charge, causing voltage to dip below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. The fuel gauge IC has not yet learned the new cell's voltage cliff point, so it does not flag low battery in time. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without fast charging to let the IC recalibrate. After calibration, the low-battery warning should trigger before voltage collapses under load.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Archos 40b Titanium won't power on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead on arrival?
It is almost certainly a BMS lockout, not a dead cell. When a Li-ion cell drops below roughly 2.5V from prolonged storage, the BMS locks out to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold, and the phone will start normally once voltage recovers past approximately 3.0V.
Fast charging stopped working after fitting the replacement cell — the phone only charges slowly now
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the BMS handshake with the charge IC can default to standard charge current until it completes one full cycle and confirms cell parameters. We saw this on the bench with the AC40bTI cell. Run one full discharge down to auto-shutoff, then charge to 100% on a standard charger. On the second cycle, the charge IC re-negotiates current and fast charging resumes.
The battery percentage on the 40b Titanium jumps around erratically — it reads 45%, then suddenly 62%, then drops to 30%
The fuel gauge IC is recalibrating against the new cell's discharge curve and has not yet built a stable reference map. This is normal for the first two to three cycles after a cell replacement. Do not top up the charge mid-cycle during this period — let each cycle run from above 90% down to auto-shutoff. By the third full cycle, the coulomb counter has enough data to stabilise the percentage readout.
