Fits Baofeng T1 and BF-T1 portable radios; replaces OEM battery part number BF-T1.
3.7V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers full transmit power on sustained RF output without voltage sag.
Connector seats flush into the radio's battery slot with positive terminal facing upward; locking tab engages on insertion.
We ran this cell through five full charge cycles on a standard Baofeng charger dock; BMS accepted handshake immediately without fault indication.
On first insertion into the radio, if the charger dock shows a fault LED, remove the battery, wipe both the gold contact strip and the dock contacts with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly — the Baofeng platform requires clean contacts to accept the new cell's BMS before charging begins.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Baofeng T1 Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BF-T1)

This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the OEM pack in the Baofeng T1, BF-T1, and BF-T1 UHF handheld two-way radios. It matches the original cell chemistry and physical footprint, including the 49.20 x 35.00 x 6.20mm slim profile that sits flush inside the T1 chassis. Voltage and capacity figures are drawn directly from the OEM specification.

  • T1, BF-T1, and BF-T1 UHF compatibility: All three variants share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full T1 family without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a BF-T1 unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without triggering an overcurrent lockout during PTT press. Voltage held stable across both receive and transmit states.
  • First insertion on the T1 charger cradle: If the T1 cradle LED blinks fault on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The cradle requires a clean contact cycle to register the BMS handshake before charging begins — this is not a fault with the battery.

Why the BF-T1 cuts out mid-transmission on a new battery

The T1's transmit current draw spikes sharply the moment PTT is pressed. If the replacement pack shipped at storage voltage — typically around 3.6V — the BMS may interpret that initial surge as an overcurrent event and trip the protection circuit. This is not a defective cell; it is the BMS doing its job on a partially charged pack. Give the battery a full charge cycle before first use in the field, and the BMS trip threshold will no longer be triggered by a normal PTT press.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a new BF-T1 pack

The T1 uses a simple voltage-threshold bar indicator, not a fuel gauge chip. A new pack at storage voltage reads approximately 3.60–3.65V, which maps to one bar below full on that threshold scale. This does not mean the cell is low capacity or faulty. Charge the pack fully until the cradle LED goes green, then power cycle the radio — the indicator will read correctly once the cell rests above 4.1V.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BF-T1 transmits fine for a few seconds then the audio cuts and the radio goes quiet — what's causing this?

This is a voltage sag failure under sustained RF output. The T1's transmitter draws a burst of current that a degraded or deeply discharged cell cannot sustain, and the BMS shuts the pack down to protect the cell. It is not a radio fault. Charge the replacement pack fully before use — a rested cell above 4.1V will hold voltage through a normal transmission without triggering the cutoff.

The T1 cradle LED blinks red immediately after I insert the new battery and never switches to charging — how do I fix this?

The cradle is rejecting the BMS handshake, usually because the gold contact strip on the pack has a thin film from packaging or storage. Remove the battery, wipe the contact strip firmly with a dry cloth, and reseat it with a clean, deliberate click. If the LED still blinks, check that the pack is seated flat — the T1 cradle needs full contact across all three pads to begin the charge cycle.

After leaving the new BF-T1 battery in a drawer for a few weeks, the radio won't turn on at all — is the pack dead?

Li-Polymer cells self-discharge during storage and can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — roughly 2.5V — at which point the protection circuit locks the pack out entirely. Place the battery in the cradle and wait up to 15 minutes; some cradles apply a low pre-charge current that brings the cell back above the threshold before switching to normal charge. If the cradle LED does not respond at all after 15 minutes, connect the cradle to a different USB power source rated at 5V 1A minimum and retry.
