Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BBK VIVO I530 / I589 / K118 / K119 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BK-BL-5C)

This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the BBK VIVO I530, VIVO I589, VIVO K118, VIVO K119, and compatible models. It uses OEM part number BK-BL-5C and slots into the same battery bay as the original cell. Capacity is rated at 1200mAh (4.44Wh) — identical to factory spec.

  • VIVO I530 / I589 / K118 / K119 platform fit: These models share the same 3.7V single-cell architecture, BK-BL-5C connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full discharge-charge sequence on a VIVO I530 unit. The BMS accepted the cell without error flags, and charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before the charge IC applies high-current profiles to an uncalibrated cell.

Why the VIVO I530 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The VIVO I530 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds a discharge model around the original cell's internal resistance and voltage curve. When a new cell goes in, the stored model no longer matches the actual cell characteristics. The gauge reads state-of-charge against old reference data, so percentages appear frozen, inflated, or erratic. One full discharge to auto-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the IC to write a new baseline curve.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the modem or display draws a high current burst and the cell voltage dips below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. A fresh cell with an uncalibrated gauge is especially prone to this on the first few cycles. The BMS is cutting power to protect the cell, not failing. After two full discharge-charge cycles, the gauge IC recalibrates and the shutdowns stop. If they persist beyond three cycles, check that resting cell voltage reads at least 3.6V with a multimeter.

Frequently Asked Questions

The VIVO I530 powers on after fitting the new battery but shuts off randomly between 20% and 30% — what's causing this?

The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve from the old cell, so it misreads the actual state of charge. When the modem or screen pulls a current spike, the real cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff even though the display shows charge remaining. Run two full discharge-to-shutdown then charge-to-100% cycles without interrupting them. After the second cycle the gauge rewrites its reference data and the random cutoffs stop.

USB fast charging isn't working on the VIVO I530 after I swapped the battery — the phone just trickle charges.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC defaults to a low-current profile until it verifies the new cell's impedance is within range. Some VIVO firmware also suspends fast-charge negotiation if the fuel gauge reports an uncalibrated state. Let the phone complete one full charge on the standard trickle rate, then reconnect the fast charger — the IC should re-enter the fast-charge handshake once the cell clears its baseline check. If fast charge still doesn't activate after that cycle, confirm the charger output is at least 5V 2A.

The phone feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new BK-BL-5C cell — is that normal?

A new cell typically has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates a little more energy as heat during the first few cycles. This is normal and should reduce noticeably after two or three full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the device is too hot to hold comfortably or charging stops before 100%, remove the case to improve airflow and avoid charging on soft surfaces. Warmth that persists beyond the third cycle points to a charge IC issue on the board, not the cell.
