Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VIBO K520 — 3.7V Li-ion 1200mAh Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell for the VIBO K520 feature phone. It replaces the original battery when the phone no longer holds a usable charge or fails to power on. Capacity is 4.44Wh, matching the factory specification for the K520 battery bay.
- K520 fitment: The K520 uses a compact 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm cell with a 3.7V nominal rail. This replacement matches those physical dimensions and the voltage level the phone's charge IC expects. A mismatch on either kills the handshake with the protection circuit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge sequence, monitoring BMS cutoff at both ends. The protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold, and the charge IC accepted the cell without error flags on the first cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable any fast-charge mode and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle at standard current. The K520's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — one full cycle at low current lets it map the new cell before resuming normal charging.
Why the K520 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The K520 uses a fuel gauge IC that stores a learned discharge curve from the previous cell. When you fit a new cell, that stored curve no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity relationship of the replacement. The gauge reads the cell voltage and maps it to the wrong percentage, so you see jumps or a mismatch between reported and actual charge. One complete slow discharge from 100% to automatic shutoff, followed by a full charge, forces the IC to rewrite its curve against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — modem activity, screen brightness, or a background sync pushes current demand high enough to pull the terminal voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold even though the gauge still shows charge remaining. On a fresh cell, this usually means the fuel gauge IC has not yet recalibrated. Run one full cycle first. If shutdowns persist after calibration, check that the battery contacts are clean and making full surface contact — a high-resistance connection causes the same voltage sag symptom and can be cleared by wiping the terminals with a dry cloth before reseating the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
The K520 won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is it dead?
The BMS locks out below approximately 2.5V per cell to prevent damage, and a battery stored uncharged can drift below that threshold. Plug the phone into a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power it on — the charge IC needs enough voltage to release the BMS lockout before the phone will respond. If the charge LED comes on at any point, the cell is recovering. If there is still no response after an hour on charge, check that the battery contacts are seated flush and try a different cable and charger.
The K520 battery percentage jumps around erratically — shows 60%, then drops to 15%, then climbs back up.
The fuel gauge IC on the K520 was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve, and the new cell has a different impedance profile, so the voltage readings get mapped to the wrong percentages. Run one complete cycle — discharge the phone until it shuts off automatically, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — and the gauge will rewrite its curve against the new cell. Do not interrupt the charge partway through on that first cycle, or the recalibration will be incomplete.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that normal?
A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC pushes current into more resistance and generates extra heat during the first few cycles. This is expected and reduces after two or three full charge cycles as the cell's impedance settles. Keep the phone out of a case for the first couple of charges so heat can dissipate freely. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — or the charge stops before 100%, remove it from the charger and let it cool to room temperature before continuing.
