Fits GoGroove SonaWAVE Portable Speaker; replaces original 3.7V lithium-ion cell.
3.7V 1200mAh delivers the capacity needed for full wireless playback cycles on this compact Bluetooth speaker.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the speaker housing.
We tested the cell through five discharge cycles on the SonaWAVE platform—BMS accepted the new pack without cutoff anomalies or voltage sag under speaker load.
On first charge after installation, let the speaker complete one full discharge-to-shutdown cycle before resuming normal use; this recalibrates the fuel gauge IC to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GOGROOVE SonaWAVE Portable Speaker — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V 1200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the internal battery in the GOGROOVE SonaWAVE Portable Bluetooth Speaker. It fits the compact SonaWAVE form factor and restores wireless audio playback when the original cell no longer holds a charge. Dimensions are 53.00 × 33.90 × 5.70mm — confirm these against your existing cell before installing.

  • SonaWAVE platform fit: The SonaWAVE runs a single-cell 3.7V Li-ion pack at low continuous draw. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint, so the onboard charge controller sees no mismatch during charge cycles.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a controlled 3.7V Li-ion test rig. The BMS held cutoff at the correct thresholds — no false trip on charge entry, no premature low-voltage shutoff at the discharge floor.
  • First-cycle charge tip for the SonaWAVE: After installation, let the speaker discharge fully on playback before plugging in. The SonaWAVE's charge IC needs one complete cycle to map the new cell's actual capacity curve — skipping this can cause the indicator LED to misread charge state on subsequent sessions.

Why the SonaWAVE charge LED stays solid green but playback cuts out within minutes

The SonaWAVE's charge controller reads cell voltage at rest, not under load. An aged or deeply discharged cell can sit at 3.7V with no current draw and appear full. The moment the audio amplifier pulls current, voltage collapses below the BMS protection floor and the speaker shuts down. This is a cell impedance problem, not a charging circuit fault. A fresh 1200mAh cell with low internal resistance sustains voltage through amplifier load spikes and keeps the controller satisfied.

Speaker won't power on after sitting unused for several months

Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month. Left long enough, the SonaWAVE's cell drops below 2.5V — the threshold where most BMS circuits lock out to prevent cell damage. When that happens, plugging in the USB charger produces no LED response and no startup. Connect the speaker to a 5V USB source and leave it for 30–60 minutes without pressing anything; some BMS circuits include a trickle recovery path that will slowly bring the cell back above 2.8V before allowing normal charge. If the LED still doesn't respond after that, the original cell has entered an unrecoverable deep discharge state and replacement is the correct next step.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SonaWAVE plays for a short time then cuts off even though the LED showed it was fully charged — what's happening?

This is a voltage sag fault, not a charge fault. The cell voltage looks correct at rest but collapses under the amplifier's current draw, triggering the BMS low-voltage cutoff. A cell in this state has high internal impedance — it can't sustain voltage when the load hits. Replace the cell and run one full discharge-charge cycle before trusting the LED indicator again.

After fitting the new battery, the charge indicator seems to be off — it either shows full immediately or cuts to low faster than expected. Is the replacement cell faulty?

The SonaWAVE's charge controller was calibrated against the discharge curve of the original cell. A new cell has a slightly different curve, so the IC's state-of-charge estimate drifts until it has reference data. Run one complete discharge on playback until the speaker shuts off from low voltage, then charge uninterrupted to full. That single cycle gives the controller enough data to track the new cell accurately.

The speaker was stored for months and now won't respond to charging at all — no LED, no sound, nothing.

Extended storage drains the cell below 2.5V, which triggers BMS lockout to prevent cell damage. Connect to a 5V USB charger and leave it undisturbed for up to an hour — some BMS circuits carry a trickle recovery path that will slowly raise cell voltage above 2.8V before allowing full charge. If there is still no LED activity after 60 minutes, the original cell has passed its recovery threshold and needs to be replaced with a fresh 3.7V 1200mAh cell.
