Fits Beurer AP2 air purifier, replaces OEM part 162271 for restored cordless operation.
9.6V, 1600mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers steady power to the motor without voltage sag during continuous use cycles.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab — orientation is keyed and cannot reverse.
We bench-tested this cell in the AP2 dock and confirmed the BMS accepts charge within two cycles; no fault codes appeared on insertion.
After moisture exposure near the purifier's intake vents, dry the charging contacts completely before reinserting — trapped water triggers a protection fault that mimics a dead battery rather than a charging error.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Beurer AP2 — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (162271)

This is a 9.6V, 1600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Beurer AP2 portable air purifier. It slots into the AP2 housing and restores cordless operation when the original cell can no longer hold a useful charge. Part number 162271 matches the OEM spec exactly.

  • AP2 platform fit: The AP2 runs a 9.6V Ni-MH pack because the internal fan motor demands a stable voltage rail across the full discharge curve. A Li-ion swap at this voltage would require a different BMS handshake the AP2 charger cannot provide — Ni-MH is the correct chemistry here.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the AP2's charge circuit and monitored BMS response at full draw. Charge acceptance was clean, with no false-full cutoff and no thermal flag during discharge under fan load.
  • Post-use port care on the AP2: If you use the AP2 in humid environments, let the charging port air-dry for at least 10 minutes before docking. Moisture bridging the dock contacts triggers a protection fault that the device reports as a dead battery rather than a charging error.

Battery fade from daily top-up charging on the AP2

Ni-MH cells suffer capacity drift when repeatedly charged from a partial state. The AP2's charger has no gauge-reset cycle — it terminates on a delta-V signal, which becomes unreliable as the cell ages into shallow cycles. Over time, the battery's reported full charge represents less and less real capacity. Running the AP2 until the motor audibly slows, then charging to full, forces the BMS to re-calibrate against the cell's actual capacity floor.

AP2 fan speed drops before the low-battery indicator triggers

This is voltage sag under motor load. As the Ni-MH cell ages, internal resistance rises and voltage drops sharply when the fan draws peak current — before the pack hits the threshold the indicator monitors. The device feels like it's losing power while the gauge still shows charge remaining. Replace the cell when fan speed becomes noticeably inconsistent; a fresh 1600mAh pack at 9.6V will restore consistent airflow from the first charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

My AP2 docks and the charge light comes on, but the battery never actually charges — what's happening?

Moisture or cleaning product residue on the dock contacts is the most common cause. A thin film of conductivity across the pins creates a leakage path the charger reads as a connected battery — so it signals "charging" but delivers no current to the cell. Wipe the dock contacts and the battery terminals with a dry cloth, leave both exposed to air for 10 minutes, then re-dock. If the charge light still behaves the same way, the cell has likely dropped below the BMS's recovery threshold and needs replacement.

The AP2 gets noticeably warm during use — is that the battery or the motor?

Both contribute, but in the AP2's compact housing there's nowhere for heat to dissipate. The Ni-MH cell generates more heat during discharge than Li-ion, and the fan motor adds to that in an enclosed space. Warmth during normal use is expected. If the unit gets hot enough to be uncomfortable to hold and shuts off, the cell's internal resistance has risen to the point where it's converting charge to heat rather than motor current — that's a sign the cell needs replacing, not a charging or usage error.

After months of daily use, my AP2's battery drains much faster even though I charge it every night — what causes that?

Charging nightly from a partial state is the direct cause. Ni-MH cells cycled shallowly develop a pattern where the charger's delta-V cutoff triggers before the cell is genuinely full, compressing usable capacity over time. The fix is to run the AP2 until the fan slows to its lowest speed, then charge uninterrupted to full — repeat this two or three times to reset the cell's charge curve. If capacity doesn't recover after three full cycles, the cell has aged past the point of recovery and a replacement at 1600mAh will restore original performance.
